No more hour-long commutes!

Moving weekend has finally come! We're moving into our new home tomorrow!

I took today off to prepare, and yesterday when I drove that long drive home from work, I exited the interstate like I always do, but this time I said to myself, "I'll never make this drive after work again." It was wonderful! I will now live only a mere 2 1/2 miles from work! Instead of an hour, it will take about 10 minutes (less if traffic is light and I hit all the stop lights green).

I'm super-exhausted from packing all day, but I'm really looking forward to getting moved in!

Moving into a new home...especially if it's your first, which I think it is...is hard work but very rewarding! CONGRATS!:+ :+ :+

Congrats on your new digs! A lot can be said about living close to work. Just think of all the extra, more productive time you'll get back into your life. With gas as expensive as it is now, you'll save a ton of money on gas, let alone the wear and tear on your car.

I live about 3 miles from work. It's convenient that I can slip out at lunch and do my grocery shopping, then run by the house to drop it off. Also, I can sleep late and still get my workout in before work. My car, which is over two years old now, only has 13,000 miles on it. The downside is that DH assumes that since I am so close I am always responsible for being home to meet workmen, take both cars for oil changes, let the dog out if we're both stuck at work, etc. Also on the downside is that when we have bad snowstorms, my work expects me to make it in because I'm so close (and I don't have kids). Everyone gets the snow day but me.

The good outweighs the bad, though. The one thing I feel guilty about is that I really should be biking to work instead of driving. Maybe next spring.....
