NJ Roadtrippers - directions help needed

I'll be driving down from upstate NY. I have two trip tiks from AAA. One says to do 87S to Garden State PKWY to 95S.

The other says 87S to 287 to 95S.

Any advice on which is the better (FASTER) route?

Also, traffic delays, tolls, etc would be appreciated.

oh, i also think, and don't quote me on it but that 287 goes more "around" nyc, so its the better choice, traffic wise. I should probably map out my plan now too lol

Yes, if you're driving down on Friday avoid the parkway at all costs. It's the major shore route & if you're on it after about 2:00 on Fridays you understand why it's called the "park"way.
