NFL Players out of control

When and where will it stop? I'm getting to the point of just being done with the NFL and the gross irresponsibilities of the players, fostered by a league that seems to facilitate them. This is the latest this morning. It's obscene and pathetic.

"The Titans had no comment Sunday about a published report that they loaned former running back Travis Henry $9,800 for child support payments. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Henry fell behind on support payments for a child in DeKalb County, Ga. Threatened with jail, he borrowed the money from the Titans to pay the bill, according to court records. The newspaper reported that Henry, 28, has fathered nine children by nine women in Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina and Georgia. Court records show that he spent $100,000 for a Mercedes and $146,000 for jewelry."

So why didn't he call the reverend Al Sharpton to come out and make excuses for him? Al? Hello, Al? This guy is probably a walking venereal disease, and how do you think his kids are going to grow up? Hopefully they have grandfathers or other good male figures in their lives to set good examples.

Sorry, this stuff just pisses me off so bad.

Not all NFL players are out of control. If we just breathe for a minute think about the source.....My son's coach tried out for NFL and he and his family are great. Please don't paint a broad picture of all players having lots of children, etc. Sterling Sharpe for example, who played at USC, donated money for a pedatric clinc. There are players who are not of control. Please give all this a rest.

I LOVE Sterling Sharpe (I'm a Packer fan)!!!

And, of course, not ALL players are like this. However, a culture of poor behavior has become the norm (within the NBA, as well). The bad ones seem to be really bad and better behavior should be expected by the league; this behavior should not be tolerated. If these behavior were exhibited by any of us, we would lose our jobs. As the saying goes, "to whom much is given, much is expected." If the players and the league want continued support from fans, they should hold themselves to higher standards. After all, ultimately we are paying these people and our kids are emulating them. I would like to see the day when more players are in the news because of the wonderful things they are doing (and there admittedly are many) rather than these things.
