New Video Clips Not Working Right

normandy

Cathlete
I upgraded my windows media player to version 9, but when I tried to see (before ordering) the clips of Muscle Endurance and Boot Camp, I get the sound just fine but the clips are more like a series of changing still photographs, rather than the actual exercises. Clips of Power Hour, MIS, etc. show the actual exercises, and I wonder if the newer video clips were recorded differently. I have newest windows media version so I don't understand what could cause that problem.

Thanks for any clarification and suggestions.

Hey Normandy,

I just checked the clips & they work fine for me at the 200k speed. What speed are you watching them at? I know this is a "helpless desk" kind of suggestion but have you rebooted your computer & tried again?

Hope that helps.

I'm 56 K. But I upgraded my media player last night from version 8 to 9 and thought that would help but I guess not. What's strange is all the older clips -- power hour, mis, etc. work as they're supposed to. Can't figure out why this would be.

Do you have any idea of the difference in the number of repetitions (roughly) for each exercise between MIS and PH? I have MIS and would like a shorter tape but with more reps for each body part.

Thanks for your help.

Hi, Linda -- I tried this at my office computer, which is also 56 K, and although I upgraded at home to media player 9, thinking that was the problem, my office comp only has media 7 -- and the new clips (Muscle Endurance, Boot Comp) worked perfectly there. Are you getting Power Hour clips on yours, because I get that and all the old ones with no problem.

I'm going to contact Dell later, and will let you know if they have any solution.

My computer is 56K also, and mine most of the time looks like still photo graphs, I am guessing its just the slow speed of 56K ..... I had to go into options I believe it was to get that, because it was set on 28K and I couldn't see a thing, just the audio. I don't know if there is anything we can do about it. ....... Rhonda :9

I haven't been able to get through to Dell yet but will keep trying. It can't be the 56K because my office has 56K and all worked great there.
Don't know why all her older clips work find on my set.

Will keep you posted soon as I hopefully can find anything out.

Frustrating, isn't it?

MIS Vs. Power Hour

Hey Normandy,

The difference between Power Hour & MIS is the way the workout is approached. MIS does each body part in sets, I can't remember exactly but it is more like a straight gym workout, a couple sets of 10 to 16 reps for each exercise in one body part & then on to the next muscle group. It is a strength workout. Power Hour is more like Body Pump. Your warm up is done with a very light barbell & hits each muscle group. Then you load your bar heavier & go to work. You work each muscle group for about 2 minutes with almost NO rest in between sets. I think Cathe does 16 single count squats, 8-3 down 1 up squat, 4-4 down 4 up squats, 4-2 down, 2 up squats & then 8 low ends, a 20 second rest & starts again. The entire body is worked in a similar fashion. It is an endurance workout that is GUARANTEED to leave you sweating, panting & shaking like a chiuaha!

Hope that helps.

RE: MIS Vs. Power Hour

Hi Donna -- Yes, your explanation sure does help. I want a gym-style workout but with more reps that MIS (which i woldl haave to modify by using lighter weights).

Now if only Cathe would answer and let me (and several others who have same problem) know whether her newest clips were recorded any diffently than her older ones, I'd order more than just PH. I only order what I can see, due to too many gathering dust (not Cathe's -- I've just started with her)! Strange, I've sent messages to various computer forums, but no answers.

Anyhow, thanks so much for your reply. It really clarified PH for me and it's the next one I'm getting and can't wait to try!

RE: MIS Vs. Power Hour

I don't think you'll get an answer from Cathe, she just posted that she isn't going to be answering questions very often because of filming new videos (http://69.0.137.118/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=2&topic_id=26256&mesg_id=26256&page=). I tried the 56k link & it works fine through my cable connection. Based on that I would guess its a problem with the connection through your (& the others') slower modem. Modem connections do slow the video stream, the video streams in faster than the modem can download the picture. When we had a dial up modem, video stream was near impossible sometimes.

If you are looking for a gym style workout but don't mind doing different body parts on separate days, try Pure Strength. There are 3 sets of 10 in that video series. If you are looking for more reps than than, you're looking for an endurance type workout & Power Hour is definitely the way to go. It's a fun workout that will kick your butt.

RE: MIS Vs. Power Hour

Hi, Deb -- Yes, I saw that Cathe won't be posting. What I don't understand for the life of me is why the clips of PH, MIS, etc. come up great, it's just the NEW ones I can't get? If it's my connecton (which my son-in-law who is a computer whiz says it is, same as you do) why is there no problem with the older ones? I watched PH all the way through and if I go back and forth between PH and Boot Camp and ME, PH keeps coming up great and the other two are like still photos. No, I don't have cable but like I said, just the new ones don't work right.

Anyhow, I'm putting in a last-minute bid on EBay for PH, closes at 8:30. If not I'll just buy it. Everyone says there are so many bargains around for WHS format, but I can't seem to find any.

Would rather have one tape but would do two separately, but just can't see three tapes. Having upper part split like that is too much for me. Did a Gilad Arms of Steelfor Men today, and I sure wish he had a total toning tape. I love him, but he hasn't made any new ones lately and a lot of his moves are complex.

Anyhow, you're a doll for all your answers and great suggestions!
