New to stepping

Hi Everyone -

I have never done a step video or class before, but have been saving up to buy a club step and some step dvds. I have used Cathe's weight lifting and kickboxing dvds for a few years now, but have never ventured into step because I never had a big enough workout space until now.

My question is, will I be able to learn the moves in the more advanced videos without any prior step experience? I am wondering whether I should start with the Basic Step or Low Impact Step dvds (or maybe Cathe's older step workouts) to get some of the moves down, or whether I should just go straight to the advanced dvds (Imaxs, etc) since I am wanting more of an advanced cardio workout?
I am not the most coordinated, and have gotten frustrated doing Christi Taylor hi/lo videos in the past because of the choreography.

Any suggestions would be wonderful!

Thanks,
Diane

If you want advanced cardio, yet choreography that isn't too complicated, I highly suggest the first IMax(Interval Max). I have trouble with complex choreography(including many of Cathe's)but I was able to pick this one up fairly quickly. Check out the clip and see what you think!

Hi Lori.

I'd recomend getting Low Impact Step. It will teach you a bunch of moves that are used in Cathe's other step tapes (like Low Max and Step Blast) and it's actually a lot of fun, even for an advanced exerciser. You can make it a lot more intense my putting in power moves. Basic Step is really really basic, so I personally wouldn't go with that. The older videos, on the other hand, are much easier to learn than the newer stuff and will get you familiar with the steps. You can get them at a very low cost now, what with the big sale and all. You might outgrow the older ones (I find the new step workouts to be so much more fun) but at those prices, who cares?

Good luck with stepping,
