NEW TO CATHE

I just recently purchased MIS, and just loved it. Before purchasing this tape, I worked out with The Firm's exclusively. I really like Cathe's style and would love to incorporate some of her cardio tapes or strength/cardio combo's into my workout. I love The Firms Cardio Step Mix, but am getting bored with it. Only thing is (bummer) I have a sensitive knee and can't handle too many high impact moves. The thing that really gets me is plyo's, jumping, etc. I usually modify these into squats or stay grounded instead, but I don't want to have to modify a whole tape! From what I've read, most of her cardio tapes are hi impact. Is this true? If not, which would you recommend? I prefer Step Aerobics over floor routines. Thanks for the input!:7

Hi Michelle!

I feel bad no one has responded to you yet. I didn't respond earlier because I am not familair with the Firm CSM tape. My opinion is that ANY Cathe tape can be modified. YES, she is very advanced, intense wise and I consider myself advanced, but there are times when I am not feeling well maybe due to a bad cough, so I just bring my step down to 4" and take much of the impact out. It make take you a few tries to figure out ways to modify certain moves, but Cathe tapes are so worth it. BTW, MIS was one of my very fisrt Cathe tapes also and I, too, fell in love with her style. The rest is history-I now own ALL of her tapes! :7 I'm not sure I have helped you much but I think it s worth a try to purchase one and see what you think. Her Wedding vid and MegaStepBlast are fairly easy to learn choreo wise. The CTX Series might also be a good start as the cardio sections are shorter but you get the bonus of strength added on at the end. A GREAT series! Let me know if I can help anymore! (Should you find that her tapes are too much for you, you will have NO trouble selling them!)

Hi Michelle,

I am also a "young" Cathe addict, and I have to ease on the workouts because of the impacts. I have posted a message on this forum to know if I could get other instructors with same intensity and fun but less impact, so that I could alternate with Cathe, and got kind answers.
Now, I still do Cathe's step workouts, which are fantastic, but I am limiting the jumps, and always try to keep good form on special moves (like turns). I also use a lower step when I am tired.

Take care,

Karina
