New to Cathe workouts

I am thinking about purchasing a Cathe workout and need some info. Have been working out since 1984 and am currently doing the WHFN dvd's.I have enough equipment(minus medicine balls, stability ball/no room!) and don't want to invest in anymore right now.Lots of variety with dumbbells too.Need low-impact and WANT cardio/weights interval if it is available.Probably would be considered a beginner/intermediate exerciser with these although I am an advanced one for most other workouts. Are there any particular workouts you could recommend for me to get started with?Thank you ahead of time!

There is a w/o in the Intensity Series called Cardio&Weights. I would consider it intermediate. There is another w/o on that DVD also called IMAX2 which is a fun fun interval workout but definitely advanced.

There is a lot of help here on these forums, I'm sure others will post wiht some suggestions.

I just wanted to say welcome and hello to a fellow North Carolinian.

Hi. I'm new to Cathe as well. I am a long time firm user (since 1987) and I also have the WHFNs (although they are great workouts, they're not my cup of tea).

I really love the premixes that cathe has. They make it alittle easier if you're new to her advanced workouts. I have yet to do a complete workout. They are challenging but I prefer to buy workouts I can grow with instead of buying a beginner workout.

I'm really enjoying lowmax. I'm only doing the premix (the first 4 intervals and blasts with a warmup and stretch). This is low impact high intensity cardio. No weights in this workout.

Cardio and weights is also great. I'm trying to learn the step routine right now.

I also bought pyramids (love it), muclemax, coremax and the pure strength series.

Coremax has 3 routines with one that doesn't require any equipment.

Her step routines can be complex for someone new. Just stick with it and you'll have alot of fun when you're able to get through it.

Hi Donna,

My name is Andrea and I am new as well. I love Cathes Low max it is difficult yet not so hard on your body! I also have pyramids and think it great!

I would recomend low max to a newbee because it is challenging but not too much jumping around:) so its perfect starter! I made the mistake of buying Imax 3 to start out...ha-ha did that DVD kick my butt! But I WILL MASTER IT:)

Hi Andrea,

I was going to buy imax 3 but after reading all the reviews on videofitness and collage...I decided it was out of my league. At least for now. I do have the imax2 plus cardio & weights. I'm trying to learn the cardio & weights workout now. I know imax 2 is alittle more difficult so I'll save that one for later.

Lowmax is great! I could do this workout on every cardio day. I started on a 6" height so I could learn the routines. I was watching it for a week and kept playing it on slow motion to get it down pat. I recently started using an 8" height and wow, it really bumps it up a notch.

I can't do alot of impact because of 3 back surgeries. Cathe's workouts are unique. While some dvds are chaptered, she takes the guess work out of making a shorter (or easier) workout with the premixes. They cost more because we are getting more. I haven't completed a full workout of hers as of yet. I pretty much do her premixes and I don't feel like I'm being short changed at all. They are worth every penny. Good luck with imax3. I'll get there someday....

I've recently gotten CTX (Cross Train XPress) and LOVE it! Cardio 5 days a week, plus a different upper body part (I think 3 of them have abs, too)...The 6th workout is ALL legs and abs...I've had this for 3 (?) weeks now, and am hooked...Cathe is so different from all of the other trainers out there...

One thing I will say to the newbies out there, if yuo've never worked out to Cathe before, get used to hating her! You'll be using muscles in a different way!! And yes, I always say "sorry" to the TV for using foul language when I'm done!
