New to Cathe - need some help

I have been doing aerobics for the last 2 months at work and have absolutley loved it. I haven't lost any pounds but have lost inches. I am trying to lose weight and to tone my body - not bulk it up.

I will be going back to graduate school in the fall and would like to continue to my aerobics work out.

If any one would suggest several videos it would be greatly appreciated. I like high intensity workouts but not to much difficulty in coordination.

You might try Reebok's Intense Moves. The workout is around 50 minutes and is an interval step workout that is very intense but not too choreographed. I love Cathe but her stuff can be complex for some. Cathe's CTX series is also a very good option for those with time problems. I like to do one video for short workouts or mix and match. Her choreography is a little more simple I think--others may disagree. I really encourage people (I'm a trainer and recommend videos all the time to others) to make up their own moves if they don't like something. I do this all the time to videos. I do what works for me and you should definitely do the same. Throw in a repeater or jumping jacks to take the place of more complicated steps. Something I do a lot is jumping jacks instead of mombos. I hate mombos because they are not very intense. The jacks keep my heart rate up better. You might also consider Mindy Mylrea's Slammin' Sports Cardio--very intense but fairly simple.

Good luck, Cyndie

Maybe I'm just optimistic, but I think Cathe is absolutely the best step teacher out there, and you should try one of her Step tapes if you like an hour of intensity. It may take a little longer to learn, but when you do, it just feels great. I also wonder whether the CTX series would be good for you. I say "wonder," because although I agree that the routines seem less complex to me, part of this I suspect is because there are a lot of familiar moves that experienced Cathe steppers already know--and some of the new ones are as tricky as some of the old ones were before I learned them.

I think Step Heat, Mega Step Blast and Step Max are easiest to learn, but Step Jam and Step Fit arent much more difficult but I feel they're more intense and very fun. Interval Max is an excellent, intense interval workout with basic choreography. For a non-step workout, try Cardio Kicks. Whatever you choose, it'll be intense and as far as the choreography goes dont get discouraged...it may take a few run throughs but it's definitely worth it!!

My two cents,

Stacy
