New to Cathe...need help picking workout!

Hello, I first saw Cathe on FitTV and love her workouts. I am an avid runner and lifter. I am very fit and toned, but want to really work on compacting my muscle and become more defined. I usually lift pretty heavy, and am considering more of an endurance workout to help with definition. I have really nice arms, but I feel they are too big...I want the muscle more compact. What do you think? Any suggestions on one of Cathe's workouts that might fit the bill? I don't like the cuts they have on FitTV and want to buy my own DVD so I get the benefit of the full workout. What should I try? THanks for any help and advise for my situation! JEnny:)

Muscle Endurance or Power Hour might be good for you. They are total body endurance workouts with lots of reps. Also, the CTX series might be nice... same deal there with the high rep workouts, but you also get some high intensity cardio mixed in there too.

Hello! Another possibility for you would be the push-pull and supersets DVD (both come on one). It's great and they are nice compact "endurance weight lifting" workouts. Not as slow and heavy as pyramids, but still very excellent workouts! I recommend watching the previews on this site of any your are considering. They are really great and long enough to get a good feel for what you are buying. I just bought muscle endurance and I understand it is really good for the purposes you describe but I haven't used it yet (just arrived yesterday).

Muscle Endurance is incredible! Great moves, great music, hits every muscle group, super abs section. It does it all. If you get the DVD the other workout is Bootcamp, a very tough circuit style workout that is not for the faint of heart. It kicks some serious butt!

I also recommend Maximum Intensity Strength. Clocks in about 70 minutes, so it's longer than Muscle Endurance but can easily be broken into two sections, upper and lower if time becomes an issue. Great form pointers and very thorough!!! If you get the DVD, you also get Power Hour (similiar to a body pump class) and Body Max (a 90 minute beast of a workout that has step, power circuits for legs, and an upper body/abs segment).

While I think that both Supersets and Push Pull are not that challenging by themselves, there are some amazing premixes on the DVD which will really kick your tail!

Just my two cents! I can't imagine you'll be disappointed whatever you decide!

Welcome Jenny!...I am an avid runner myself and took a break from traditional weightlifting. Which was not good. I then started doing more Cathe. I think also that Muscle Endurance is a good workout, but I did just get the MIS/PowerHour/Bodymax DVD. I had Bodymax on VHS, and it has a good weight segment plus circuits. But let me say after trying PowerHour and MIS...they are AWESOME! I am looking at getting my arms more toned down also, I usually have to lift heavy to do that. So I am alternating some heavy and some endurance...as I have most all of Cathe's workouts...good luck...:)...Carole

Thanks for all of your advise! I am torn between Boot Camp and Muscle Endurance DVD and the Power hour, MIS, and Body Max DVD. I just received the catalog in the mail so I have been checking it out! I can't wait to order and start! Thanks again for all of your help! Jenny:7
