New to Cathe - Need Advice

Cathlete
Hi,

I posted yesterday on the rotation board and it was suggested to come here. I am new to Cathe's web site. I only have about $150 to spend. I don't own any of her workouts - YET! We are leaving on a week long Caribbean vacation on March 13th. I have been doing step/weights/pilates for several years. I probably have a high intermediate level of intensity capacity right now. I am 5'4" and 135 lbs. Would like to lose 5-10 lbs. I follow a pretty healthy diet (Loosely do the South Beach) and according to my Tanita scale I have a 29 % bodyfat. I am around a size 6-8. I am a former gymnast and my lower body has a tendency to bulk up while my upper does not (Pear). I have been doing Debbie Sieber Slim series which I started after 6 weeks of doing her Slim in Six. I really would like to be doing Cathe six days a week from now until vacation and getting really defined. I had a tummy tuck last March after a hysterectomy. I only have a DVD player in my workout room. HELP!! What to do and how to rotate for maximum effect. THANKS!!
Dawn

I would recommend getting one of these 3:

Intensity Series DVDs
Cross Train Xpress DVDs
Body Blast Series DVDs

I think they are all approximately around $150, but they might be a little more. If you buy the whole series, it lends itself nicely to creating a rotation. All 3 of these have cardio and weight work included. The Cross Train Series was made for people who might be short on time - all the workouts have an intense cardio section (no longer than 30 min.) and then end with strength training - one body part per workout. If you do all the workouts, you end up having hit every body part by the end of the week.

The Body Blast and Intensity Series are different set ups but they are awesome. And the pre-mixes in the BB series will totally blow you away with the number of options you get. If you get bored easily, definitely go with BB series.

All in all, you basically can't go wrong with any of these! Cathe pretty much kicks your butt no matter what! Hope this helps!

Hi Dawn,
I am obviously not Cathe but Welcome!

Here are all the tapes I have - I have been doing Cathe since November and pretty much thats all I do now, I used to do the Firm prior to her.
I have Step Jump & Pump, Kick, Punch & Crunch, Step Blast, Rythmic Step, Cardio Kicks, Circuit Max, BootCamp, Push & Pull.. I do want to get more but I am trying to learn all the ones I have so far.
I am about the same as you 5'3 and 135 pounds, I also had a TT but unfortunately I am not happy & plan on going back in. So I am trying to work out hard prior to another surgery to get in the best shape I can beforehand. I LOVE all of the vid's I own, just need to work on some of the steps but I am dripping when I am done, and I just love the feeling of I DID IT! These are all 1 hr tapes except for SJ&P is 73 min. & P&P is 44 min.

I would love to hear from you being that we are close in size & both had a TT, if your interested email me at [email protected]
Good Luck,
Laura =)

There are so many good Cathe workouts that it's hard to choose, but I recommend these three DVDs:

PH/MIS/BodyMax (three workouts on one DVD. PH is an excellent, and tough! endurance workout, MIS is a more straight-forward strength workout, and BodyMax is a tough and effective cardio and weights workout. The cardio moves in BM (!) are less choreographed than some of Cathe's workouts, so are easier to pick up).

PLB/PUB (a great resistance workout split)

Kick/Punch/Crunch and Legs and Glutes (KPC is a tough cardio workout that also tones the upper body; Legs and glutes focuses on lighter weights, a variety of moves, and migth be the best lower body selection for someone who bulks easily).
