New to Cathe. Can I use Firm TransFirmer for step?

I noticed that the Step sold on cathe.com is 40" long. My TransFirmer is 30" long. This will obviously make a difference in the workouts. Anyone else using a shorter step for Cathe and having problems or success?

I chose to spend my cathe budget on getting all of her workouts so I still use the transfirmer as the high step... I did get a regular step at walmart because of the height of the lower section of transfirmer.. its like using 1 riser and I have knee issues sometimes & needed the step w/out a riser.

I would definitely look into getting a step, especially if you plan to do Cathe a lot. I have two steps: got one at Goodwill (step only) for $3.99, and another at a yard sale for $5 (with two sets of risers).

I started out doing my Cathe workouts on the TF too.

Cathe uses the whole step and you have to watch yours carefully to make sure you aren't going too far off the edge.

I busted my butt on the TF once and decided to get a regular club step. I do like it better.

If you are plannning to continue with Cathe I would suggest looking into getting a club step.

As the High Step for leg presses, yes, but I personally wouldn't use it in place of a regular step. It's not made to be used that way (especially with impact): it's 'harder' than the Club Step (tough on joints and lower back) and the edges are more squared off than curved (easier to stub a toe or catch your foot, especially on moves that go from the side of the step to the back, or vice versa).

I use the firm step for videos like the high step challenge, and I use my old Reebok Step that I've had for years to do the rest of Cathe's videos...Although the club step would be more ideal because it has a "lip" or space under the step where the band can be inserted in that part of the workout...

I'm not sure if I was any help, sorry...

I also use the adjustable Reebok step. I have the transfirmer and the fannylifter. But I can adjust my step to 10' for leg presses which doesn't knock the wind out of me and allows me to use heavier weights or do the whole set.

I used the TF for over a year (so I could accumulate more DVD's) and just upgraded to Cathe's step. Mostly the TF was fine, but I totally agree with Kathryn that the surface is different. Cathe's step gives a lot more, so when I do high impact, my knees aren't taking a beating, like they did with the TF. I can't even say that I noticed a problem while using the TF, but now that I have switched, my knees are much happier.
