Hi!

I am really excited about purchasing Cathe videos and would like any advice to make an informed decision. I want to lose the last 10 pounds of pregnancy weight and think that after all my research Cathe would be the answer. Any advice on which video/s would be the best to achieve my goals would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

In order to help, WE need to be better informed. ;-)
Advice given to an advanced exerciser who has been working out for a while would be different from that given to a beginner to exercise.

What exercise have you done previously?
What are you doing now (cardio? weights? stretch? sports and activities?)
Do you have experience with weight training? Cardio?(what types). Or are you a beginner to working out (in that case, Cathe might not be the best place to start, as she is an advanced instructor, with some workouts suitable for intermediates).

Currently, I am doing 30-40 minute interval sprints/jog/walk 2-3x's a week and have done the firm a few times but it didn't seem intense enough. I have had experience with all types of cardio classes and weights in the gym but have opted to work out at home since having baby #2.

Thanks again for your input!

Than you all so much for the Welcome!

When I typed "intense" on my last post I really meant that I would like to have a great return on my investment for working out for an hour or more. I really like to feel like I have busted my butt during a workout :)

Welcome! I think that any of Cathe's intermediate workouts would be a good intro. They are still great workouts, but the choreography is less complex and the intensity is a bit lower than some of the advanced workouts. Doing these will help you get ready (physically and mentally) for Cathe's advanced DVDs. I'd suggest these:

Cardio:
Low Impact Step
Low Impact Circuit (new)
High Step Circuit
Basic Step and Body Fusion

Strength:
Total Body Strength (on the same DVD as Low Impact Step)
Push Pull and Supersets (two workouts on one DVD)
Body Fusion - supposed to have some good strength work on it (I don't have that one)

Stretching:
Total Body Stretching or Stretch Max (I prefer TBStretch because the segments aren't as long as in Stretch Max.)

Have fun, and get your credit card ready!:D

I am new to Cathe too - I have been doing her workouts on FitTV since mid September (well sometimes since I didn't have a step until last week). I have been drooling over her workouts the past year (haven't been able to afford them until now) and I preordered all 4 new workouts so I am jumping in with both feet! :D I can't wait till tomorrow when I have them in my hands :)

Take the plunge with me!

Since you find the Firm to be not so challenging, I am going to go out on a limb and recommend getting an advanced workout rather than intermediate. You can always modify or shorten your workout as you build strength and endurance.

Imax2/Cardio+ Weights has two great workouts that are difficult but with time you will get them down, be challenged and never bored.

Kick Punch Crunch/Legs & Glutes is great.

For Weights my fave total body is MuscleMax. However Muscle Endurance is also good and comes with the "must have" Bootcamp!

For Splits the Gym Styles is the best (IMHO) but a little pricey to get the complete set. Pyramids Upper Body/Lower Body are great to get started and come on 1 DVD. You can always make them harder by using heavier weights!

Finally: Check out the newest workouts you are reading about! There are plenty of reviews on the boards. I've done LIC and DM and am attacking Body Max2 tomorrow and Butts and Guts on Sunday!

Whatever you choose you can't go wrong! I moved to Cathe from the Firm (also not challenged) and went right to the advanced workouts. yes, I has to take them slowly. However, the feeling of accomplishment from finishing these workouts is better than any drug! You will be in Endorphin Heaven!
:) :) :) :)

I would suggest looking at Cathe's circuit workouts (where she combines cardio with strength training/weight work in "drills" or "intervals"). Circuits are a great way to lean down and burn lots of calories.
