Enough is enough and 50 was enough(responses on the old thread).

Someone asked who's getting the new DVDs on the other thread - are you referring to the new Cathe ones??? Are they out already? I didn't order them, but I was wondering how you like them for new Catheites and prego's??? Any feedback would be appreciated!! I just ordered Turbo Jam a few days ago - hope they are good for cardio days. I'm not that thrilled with kick box, but after reading the reviews I caved.

Runathon....how is it going in FL? What is your assessment of the situation nearest you. Prayers sent your way!!

Emy...at the risk of being clobbered (is that a real word?) I want to suggest Debi and Michael Pearls book "To train up a child". Whether you agree or not with it all...it has very good information on child training. I'll send it to you if you would like. Hopefully things are going better for you and you can get into your home soon!!

How ya feeling Mel??? You're getting closer. Maggie???? you out there????

Briee

Hi Briee. I"m so glad you started a new thread. ;) That one was getting way too long.

Yes, Joyce Meyer is awesome. I have about 45minutes on the road when I work...so it's perfect to listen to some teaching seminars while on the road. I have about 30 of her CD sets!!! Can you believe it? I like to share them with people, b/c she's awesome!

I checked out that TurboJam too. I thought about puchasing them but I don't have any extra $$. You see, I just got a Kohl's charge card & I"ve been using it way too much (they give you lots of discounts when you're a cardmember). YOu'll have to let me know how you like them.

Yes, I"m getting closer. I"m at the top of my 7th month. I don't mind being pg anymore. It's the first 3 1/2 mos that kill me. I'm even thinking MAYBE one more? We'll see.

Justin's doing well. He's still in his crib. He likes food. When he sees a picture of food, he licks it & says yummmmmmmmm. He licks him lips when a commerical is on. He's really funny too. He tries to "ride" his little matchbox cars & motorcycles. Soooooo much fun. Jory starts school on Tuesday. ;)

Hi everyone,
Emy, are things any easier?
Melanie, thinking about a 4th child? Wow, I definitely only want 1 more.
Briee, any new puppies?
Maggie, how are you and Bardric and the gang?

I can't believe Alexis is almost 2. Her favorite foods are now"affles"-waffle, "crackas"-crackers. She is talking more and more and is doing some 2 word sentences-"hi momma". She still loves her crib. Oh yeah, she now exercises too and steps on my step.

That's not funny shopaholic. We were discussing an upcoming marriage seminar at church last Sunday and I said they needed a class entitled "Never buy chihuahua's when dh is out of state". They didn't get it x( x( oh well!!!

Mel. That 5K is coming up on Saturday and NO I haven't been for any runs except the 5 mile one on our Cathe rotation last month. BUT I have a question. What should your diet consist of the week prior to the race??? Any words of wisdom?? What to drink right before the run and when??? During?? After??. I know this is going to be a disaster as we are going to IL (Great America Amusement park) on Thursday and will get up at 4am and not back until 12 pm AND THEN we have a "women's weekend" at camp to go to on Friday through Sunday. I'm leaving Saturday morning briefly to do the run and then right back (it's only a 5K right?). OH MY!! This might be too insane...but I'd like to try ;) ;) - it's not like I haven't done insane things before.

Briee

Briee, you funny girl! You are OBSESSED with P90X! Yikes! Ha! :D

FL is doing ok, well at least by where I live. Nothing like what is happening over in NO and Miss. and AL. ;(

Briee, I have done 5ks before. It is not that bad. Just pace yourself for the first mile. Don't go all out with the wild crowd or you will regret it. Pick up your pace after that first mile and set yourself at your normal running pace. Also, run on the middle of the road. It will save your feet a lot of trouble. As far as what to eat during the week, well eat pasta and protein. I usually get up 2 hours before the race, get ready and about an hour and 1/2 before the race have coffee, a plain bagel and a banana. This will ensure that the food is digested prior to the race and that all of the nutrients are in the cells, etc. I usually do not drink anything during the race as it would give me a side stitch. Oh, and make sure you hit the potty before the race!:p

Make sure you refuel within 15 minutes after the race by eating a bagel, banana and water. I read a lot, what can I say? :D

Those races are fun!

Enjoy!

Mel...I'm going to send Noah to hang out with Justin for a while and see if the "I LOVE FOOD" thing rubs off. It is like pulling teeth to get Noah to eat anything. He loves his bottle or sippy cup with formula - that's it. I gave him a taste of my shake this morning (very good I might add) and he took it in his mouth and promptly spit it down his shirt. BUT he's cute!!!

Runathon....thanks so much for the eating advise. I'm afraid all the ladies will be up late Friday night at the seminar and I'll be too wiped to get out of bed Sat. morning. I will take all your advise to heart - the pasta one is the hardest. I stay away from carbs and pasta is carb LOADED.....but because I trust you and you are a mega runner with infinite wisdom, I will do it with a smile :7 :7 :7 .

I'm thinking that runner's by and large would not like the P90X as they are comprised of (what I feel are) the MUCH sought after slow twitch muscle fibers (which I lack). You and Mel must have gobs and gobs of those beautiful fibers, but somehow I was left out. I will think of you every step of the run and try to get to the end without passing out. AND don't EVEN ask my time Mel because I will NEVER tell you, WAY too embarrassing!!

Briee

WHOA!!! Briee!!! I am not a mega runner. LOL! You made me smile. I just love to run because it is fun. Carbohydrates are a necessary food to fuel your muscles. They are not the enemy, girl! Also, your brain depends on Carbohydrates for food. Did you know that? ;-)

Oh, and just so you'll know, I am not a fast runner by any means. I usually run my 5ks at around 30 minutes, sometimes even more if the course is hilly, I am tired, etc. Don't sweat it sweetie. Have fun. Share with us your time. You will see that as you continue running 5ks (and you will, because they really are fun), you will love to share with us your ups and downs because we are here for you whether you are a recreational, competitive or ultra elite runner.:+

Remember to have a decent pasta meal the night before the race. Oh, and don't be afraid to tell your lady friends you are calling it a night because of your run in the morning. Do it! They will understand.

And about those muscle twitch fibers you speak about, well, I am still trying to find them! ;) }( :p

On another subject, girls, is anyone doing the Butt and Guts Sept. rotation that Cathe posted? It does sound like fun, you know.:p

Tonight I am running 30 min and doing the Low Impact Step that should be waiting for me when I get home! Yippee!!!

Runathon, have you tried your Low Impact Step DVD yet? I received mine today, it feels like Christmas!!!! ;) I haven't accomplished much working out this week, because of this upper respiratory thingee I have that is accompanied by a wicked headache. Maybe I will give this a try.

Hi everyone!

Time for a new thread--a good thing:7 :7

I'm 21 weeks and 5 days. You know how Charlotte (Toasty the Mosty) who mostly posts on the open forum has a tag line that says something like "You can workout til the cows come home, but if you don't watch what you eat, you'll just be a cow coming home"? Well, I feel like making a tag line that says "just a cow coming home", because that's how I look and feel. I have just reached my pre Bardric weight, so I keep telling myself that I'm doing waaayyy better than last time.

My ob only wants me to gain 2.5 to 3 lbs/mo for the remainder of the pregnancy. This is causing me so much stress that I have purged my dinner 4 times this week. Don't shout at me I know this is not a good thing to do. I used to struggle with bulemia and I'm freaking out about his expectations. I mean the holidays will be my 3rd trimester time. His reason is that he does not want me to have any more babies that weigh over 10 lbs for my health (although I had NO trouble with Bardric at 10 lbs, 7oz)

Bardric still really does not say many intelligable (sp?) words, unlike everyone else's toddlers:eek: ;-) :p . He is a little barbarian, but so cute, which is a good thing, because he can be really naughty too.

My favorite parenting book other than the bible itself (the book of Proverbs is a parenting staple in our house)is "Shepherding a Child's Heart" by Tedd Tripp. Max may not be quite old for this one yet. Just as an aside, his brother, Paul Tripp wrote an excellent companion for teens (or young adults, which I prefer) called "Age of Opportunity".

Briee--tell me how you like turbo jam. I've been hearing mixed reviews.

A big hello to everyone!!

Maggie

Briee, I don't change my diet at all for races. I don't prepare for races as all, besides trying to get a good nights sleep! After the race they usually have free fruit & water. I re-fuel with that. Good luck!!!!
Hi everyone! I have company so just a short response for now. ;)

Maggie & Melanie, ya'll are giving me baby fever. :) Oh Melanie, your baby is due just a few days after my mom's bday.

Hi Girls! Happy long weekend to you. I'm so excited, my best friend is on her way here (NY) from my hometown (MD) to stay for the weekend. Hubby is watching Aiden (17 months) and told me to go out & about all day!!! Whoo! Days like this are just pick me ups :)

Aiden is such a busy boy, getting more and more motor skills by the minute. He can now climb up on some of the playground equipment and go down the slide. He likes to go belly first and shouts "wheeeeee!" It's soooo cute. No intelligible words yet but he talks up a storm, points to things, and LOVES his books!

I'm so glad all of you mommas & mommas to be again are doing well :) Have a safe, happy holiday weekend and remember to give your babies and extra hug!

Maggie, Don't listen to your doctor. Eat healthy, with a few treats and keep exercising. Whatever you gain is what your body and the baby need.
Debbie, what part of NY are you from? I now live in MA but I am a long island gal.
Autumn, why do I think you'll be leaving us for the pregnancy forum soon. Does your husband want more kids?
Emy, how are you and the two little ones?
Melanie, how are you feeling?

Still no news here, hopefully I too will catch the baby fever. Happy birthday to Bardric, I know his birthday is near since he is only a few days apart from Alexis. I can't believe my little girl is going to be 2 soon. (the 12th).

Hi Autumn.

I received my new LIS on Friday and after running for 30 min on my treadmill I did it. It is a mini LowMax, indeed. The music is really hm, awful. Sorry girls, but you can tell it is not an all out Cathe production. It is a "Step Company" production. It is doable. I like it alright. I upped my risers to 8" and had to stop almost at the end because I had leg overload from my running and the previous days' training (muscle max and low max).

I liked the first stretch segment on the stretch dvd. It is just perfect.

Over all, it is ok for those days that you do not have all the "humph" required for regular advanced Cathe workouts.

Everyone else who ordered these new dvds, please post your honest thoughts. :p

Thanks!

Oh Maggie....I would bop your doctor if I could. You have enough your thinking about without his ridiculous, standard - all women are created exactly alike and should gain exactly what he states- advise. Remember....God knows how much you should gain and he is far more infinitely wise than your doctor(man I hate doctors sometimes - more than sometimes). Please try hard not to think about your weight. It will come off and you don't need this stress girl. I gained 60 with each of the first four babies, but being the incredible jerk that I can be, I would tell my doctors (I went to the doctor for the first three) just where they could toss their scales. Seriously, does weight gain really affect the size of the baby that much?? The pregnancies where I gained 60 pounds....I had the tinies babies and when I only gained 30...my babies were the biggest..so does that screw up their theory????? Just a few thoughts. I've done the binging once in a blue moon....this is not good. Now I'm really praying for you. Please keep the nutrients in kiddo. This will NOT last forever.

Thanks for your running advise too Mel!! Autumn..Hope your feeling better soon!! Glad your enjoying the new DVD's!!

My turbo jam should come any day and after reading the "I don't like turbo jam thread"...I have mixed feelings, but I don't regret ordering it as I know I can sell it on ebay pretty quick. I fully anticipate to hate at first attempt as I ALWAYS hate a workout the first time around for some reason. Imagine....I didn't like the HC when it first came out and of course I love them now!!

Briee

Hi Debbie--good to hear from you again--boy can I relate to active little boys, although my little barbarian is quitly and happily playing with brio trains right now (I think--it's pretty quiet in the next room--i'd better go check:p ) Yup--playing happily:)

Shopaholic--thanks for the encouragement!! I need it. I am so stressed out about his comments. Otherwise, I really like him.

Briee--thank you also. I don't have the courage to tell them not to weigh me. I'm intimidated by doctors, but our insurance does not cover midwives, sooo--but I actually like this doctor other than this. And get this--My first 3 were 65 lb gains and those babies were around 8 1/2 lbs, I gained 80 (clearly too much) and he weighed 9lb 6oz and with Bardric I only gained 45 and he weighed 10 lb 7oz. So I think you are right about the amount of weight gained--it can't make that much difference. The doctor also said the older I get and the more babies I have, the bigger they will be and eventually it will be hard on my body (but he didn't say how and I got the feeling he did not want to be asked)

I think I'll ask Autumn.....

take care all

22 weeks today

Hi again girls! Hope you all had a safe & happy holiday weekend. It goes by too fast, doesn't it??? Back to the grind...

shopaholic, I'm in Westchester. Been here about 1.5 years and love it! Born & raised in MD, though :)

I had a pretty good weekend. Thanks to my wonderful DH, our bathroom remodel is almost finished!!!

take care

The countdown is 6 days left in this apartment until we move into our new home! Yay! We are surviving, but ready to get outta here...

Maggie, I think a small head is the most important because that's what comes out first! :D Max was small, but with a big head, and Lily was big with a small head, so I guess there are lots of combinations in between. And as you've illustrated with your weight gains, there is no way to correlate that with baby size. Oh, the mysteries of the universe.

Briee, I'm with you on doctors. In your words, "at the risk of being clobbered," Lily is 8 weeks and, having been born at home and then moving, has not yet been to the doctor. And, she hasn't stopped growing or anything. Anyway, how do we get Maggie to tell her doctor where to stick it?

Oh, and by the way, what is Turbo Jam? Am I totally out of it?

Well, Emy--good to hear from you.

My children are not particularly large headed, so I don't think I have to worry about delivering a large headed baby, unless this little girl is an anomely.

If he gives me a hard time, I'll tell him about my weight patterns and the size of my babies (no corollation) and see what he says. I suppose the worst he could do is "fire" me and oh well....The whole conversation was just so bizarre, because he never lectured me like this during my pregnancy with Bardric, when I was clearly so much heavier....
