Hi Lisa!

Wow! 300 lbs! What fun that must have been!

I don't like going back to work after fun time either. It's so depressing!

For some reason, this particular problem with my back has never responded to any type of treatment. It's muscular, I think, and it's beneath the shoulder blade and then radiates up and down as it progresses, then it dissipates. It just takes time. I'm hoping to be back on track next week.

Turbulence Training is a full body circuit workout that includes a 20 minute interval run. Right now, I'm doing the bodweight workout 3 days a week to try it. Miss Lee here in Catheland uses it and likes it a lot. They're short and effective according to her and lots of other people. They were giving away free workouts, so I downloaded a few and am giving them a go. I still have 2 more weeks on this particular rotation, so I'll let you know what I think when I'm done.

Now, get your mindset back into work mode, exercise mode and some clean eating!
 
Hi All,

I didn't get a chance to workout yesterday. It was chemo day for my mom and we had to go to the hospital instead of the doctor's office. Mom was there for over 12 hours!!! I was there in the morning and then came into work at about 10am, then went back over there at 4:30. I finally got out of there at 8:30. It was a LONG day!

Today is my sister's birthday so no workout again today. We are going out to eat and then will have cake and open presents. Hope to get back on track tomorrow.

Tricia ~ I hope you feel better. I used to get that from time to time. For me, it was due to how I talked on the phone at work. I became more aware of it and corrected myself and that seemed to do the trick. It can be quite painful though and does a little while to get better. Hang in there!!

Change of plans

Instead of doing step moves I did sleep moves :p then I did a warm bath. Its ttotm so I'm just taking some extra rest days. Starting Sunday, I will be back on it. My Dad is out of town which makes it easier for me to get lots of work done because we share an office and for some reason he is a distraction, it must be the bad bear jokes. Mostly, I'm doing good with my eats. I did have a minor infraction with some cashews yesterday (roasted but not sweetened) but overall I'm doing well. I haven't fallen face first into the ice cream or eaten a whole box of cereal.;)

Tricia- I'm so sorry about your back! I wonder if a hot pad would help?

Lisa- I've never tried the dolphin fish, it sounds delicious! Don't worry about your diet/exercise. I think fishing qualifies as a lot of exercise. And, now you have all that fish to eat. Thats got to be healthy, right?

Jane- 12 hours!!! Sheesh, I hope she is ok. Lots of warm vibes coming at your mom right now.

Cindi- I looked at the pyramid run and thought it would be too fast for me.

I don't think we have any lurkers cause the breath smell is corn chex and I only made a little baggie, I'm being good and not eating from the box.:D
 
Good afternoon ladies,
This morning I did Providence. I could tell I was a little out of shape but that's okay. The scale said I was actually down a couple of pounds and the body %/hydrations seemed to agree so I'll go with that :D. It is interesting though that I always seem to lose weight when I take a week off and eat poorly. I guess its my response to rest time. I'm also finding that shorter, more interval based, less intense weight workouts are really working for me. Interesting stuff to know. I don't really think I can get any lower than I am now and maintain it for any length of time so I think maintaining where I am needs to be my goal from here on out.

Alisha ~ Dolphin is incredibly yummy. Do try it if you get a chance. It's white, flaky and firm. I really love it. Fishing is a workout but it also makes me hungry. My motto is, "Catch a fish, eat a sandwich, repeat as needed". The worst thing is that I love junk food when I'm on the boat - salty carb foods like Cheetos make me happy on the water. Chocolatey carb foods like brownies or chocolate covered donuts are fabulous too. I think its because I used to get sea sick so carbs sooth my stomach when I'm on the boat.

Jane ~ That is a long day! I hope you are both recovering well from it.

Tricia ~ Turbulence training sounds interesting. Is there a particular website you are using? I hope your back feels better soon. I'm trying to get back on track but usually this time each year I'm headed to the beach for good so its particularly hard to focus right now. I'm also trying to decide what I want to be when I grow up which isn't really helping with the mental focus part of things.

Hi ladies - I didn't get to the pyramid treadmill workout yesterday but I did do it today. :) I warmed up for 10 minutes vs. 5, and took each setting down a notch - started at 5.0, then 5.5, etc. and skipped the sprint. It was still hard!

Cathe always give me something to work up to, I have to say that.

Lisa - hi! I have the same experience, when I take a week off, just walk around, and eat what I want, I lose weight. And I also respond best to lighter weight/circuit workouts. I can't even imagine what a 300# fish looks like. I actually have a slight fish phobia - not when they are on my plate - but when they are swimming around.

Alisha - I think you can apply the pyramid workout idea to your current speeds. Lisa is right, Mahi-Mahi is yummy-yummy.

Jane - 12 hours - what an exhausting day for your mom (and you!). Yesterday was my husband's b'day. Thankfully we are done with B'days for a while now. Our extended family is not near us so we don't really celebrate that. Just the immediate family and the next b'day is mine in December.

Tricia - I had the same question as lisa about TT - I want to know more.

I haven't been feeling myself the last couple of weeks. My digestion is off. I was trying a recipe that was greek yogurt and the yogurt had me in pain the rest of the day. I think I unleashed some type of Probiotic WWIII in my gut. I have not been the same since, sluggish and bloated/gassy (sorry TMI!). My weight has bounced up to a number I haven't seen in 5 years and that has freaked me out. One month ago I was right where I wanted to be and now I'm up something like 8 pounds. I thought - hmm this has to all be related and I though maybe I'm not digesting food in my stomach fully, so I tried some Betaine HCL with Pepsin which seemed to make things worse for a couple of days. I'm going to start taking probiotics and see if that helps. If anyone has words of wisdom - I'd love to hear them! Oh - the other problem I was having was serious blood sugar drops if I didn't eat every few hours. I keep thinking this is just messed up - I should be able to eat in a way that makes me feel good and stabilizes my blood sugar. Frustrating.

This weekend we have lots going on - Paul is going camping with his scout troop and Pete. Honor and David have loads of cello and table tennis respectively and we will have some time with friends too.

The back is better today and I went on in to work. I should be back on track by Monday, but am hoping to get a short run in tomorrow!

Jane - What a very long and stressful day! My friend and co-worker goes with her mother-in-law for treatments now and then. She rotates with her sisters and sisters-in-law. It's very taxing. Hope she is still staying strong and doing well.

Alisha - I did use heat and ice along with some Ibuprofen (that stuff works wonders!). Rest seemed to be the ticket though. See you back on it on Monday!

Lisa - Rest week and bad foods don't work for me! Yikes! I'm always so afraid that I'm going to gain weight on a rest week! I'm a little too high strung (or paranoid) for rest weeks, but I do get through them!

Cindi - Kudos to you for getting through that treadmill pyramid workout! It looked like a killer!

It's pretty useless unless you are going to order the workouts, but, if you're on Facebook, look up Turbulence Training and you can get free workouts that they post now and then. Also, you can go to YouTube and look it up. He posts a lot of the workout routines there as well. If you want the ones I have, I can scan them and e-mail them to you. I have 3 or 4 of them. Just let me know.

I had a crazy morning today but managed to get in 30 minutes of yoga and do CC V2 at the orchard with the pups.

Cindi ~ I hope you can get your system back on track. It can be so upsetting not to mention uncomfortable when its off-kilter. A 300# fish is very cool but not if you have a fish phobia.

Then a 40 minute swim.
 
I'm starting the week with Step Moves. I'm planning on feeling good all week and focusing on getting my time in my THR. I'm up a pound but its fluid. I anticipate seeing my weight come down by next Sunday. Its supposed to rain a lot this week. I was hoping for three runs but it looks like just two.

This morning I did Bum Bum - felt good! Then I did 2 1/2 hours of hardcore mowing, weedeating, rounduping, and bushwhacking to reclaim my lawn. I'm beat. I'll get back to working out tomorrow.

Hi Everyone!

Starting out fresh tomorrow! Yay! Feel well enough to get back to it. I'm glad! 4 days with no workouts, plus company equals 4 lbs. up because of all the pizza and beer and no runs or anything else! Should be able to get back down by the end of the week!

I'm so tired today! We didn't go to bed until almost 3 a.m.!!! I never stay up that late! Hope I can get up in the morning!
 
Happy Hot Monday from Chicago! 90 degrees yesterday and close to that again today and tomorrow. CRAZY.

Tricia - Thanks for the information on TT.

Taking the probiotics seems to be helping. Things are settling down. Weight is down a couple pounds. My panic has dissappated. :)

This weekend was busy as always. Friday I did the pyramid run, Friday evening Paul left for a camping trip and David had table tennis lesson so Honor and I relaxed at the bookstore.

Saturday - Pete went to join Paul on his camping trip. They went canoeing all day. The weather was perfect. Paul said he canoed 11 miles! While they were away, Honor had cello stuff all morning including a concert. Then she went to her friends and David practiced trombone, then went to another table tennis lesson while I got groceries. Then we made bread and I organized the family room which mean sorting and pitching magazines, books, papers and cleaning out the 'homework cabinet' which contains all kinds of pens, pencils, papers, misc.

Sunday Honor and David and I went to church. Pete and Paul came home from camping. Then lunch with friends, then a 7 mile run for me (HOT!) then sushi (YUM). Then pick up the house for the cleaning lady who comes today. Then bed - FINALLY!

Spin class tonight. :)

Very fun-knee. :)

Spin and abs last night. 4 miles this morning. The sun was just coming up, it was very humid but hadn't gotten warm yet so this was not too bad. Will try another 4 tonight.
 
No Runday for me. I'm going swimming. It will be fun-knee if I swim in the rain because I'll already be wet. :p:p

Seriously this what I'm planning to do in the pool tonight. It is suppose to rain but I think if it does it will be light so I'm going to try. You can do this workout with running or biking as well.

Hi ladies,
Yesterday I walked 2 miles with the pups, then did part of Cathe's ab workout (the one with the balance ball and the medicine ball) and all of her stretch workout (the one with the band) when I got home because it was on FitTV. Then I did Cardio Axe from BBL. This morning I did Sculpt and I hope to run (CC V3 maybe) this afternoon before I have to go teach puppy class.

Jane - Ha ha ha! You are so funny! My yard took 5 man hours because I haven't done anything to it since, oh, lets see, the fall before last. I had a friend come mow it about once a month last summer while I was gone. I'm a plant person who hates grass. I'm excited about updating and renovating some flower beds though.

Cindi - I'm glad the probiotics are helping.

Alisha and Tricia - I hope you are both recovering well!

Wow! I feel so ashamed! I haven't been able to get my butt in gear since I've been out of commission. Needless to say, I haven't worked out at all this week yet! (Hangs head.) I'm bound and determined to get myself out of bed for a workout tomorrow. Unfortunately, I can only do cardio right now because, in addition to the back issue I had last week, I had a . . . ahem . . . hemorrhoid event as well. Sigh. Ever since that first one in November when I had the flu and was coughing so hard, I knew it would hit again! This is the second time and I didn't even do anything heavily exertional! Sheesh! Anyway, no weights until it resolves itself. It won't clear up soon enough for me!

I hate getting old.
