NEW RUNNERS MAY 2010

Lisa - Sending healing energy your way! I hate migraines! They are so debilitating! Get better soon!

Cindi - Have a good weight wo and have a blast with KA tomorrow! Wish I could be there! Since I can't, I want details!

Jane - As easy as your exercise list LOOKS, I'll bet it's a killer! Have a good run!

Alisha - Numb, huh? That's an interesting sensation after a shot! I hope it's better by the weekend, if not sooner! Just don't tell anyone and keep pushing off dish duty!

I ended up doing Power Max (that felt so good!) and Stability Ball Abs from B&G. How do you keep on that darn ball? LOL! I was all over the place! Guess I just need to really work on that core!

Tomorrow's iffy - maybe a kickbox w/o or maybe a run. I'm a little nervous about going out for a run in the early a.m. as it isn't really all that light yet.

Well, DH did not get a call back today. I'm so bummed. It's possible he could still get called, but I don't think it likely. It's so frustrating! He's either over-qualified or under-qualified. How is someone supposed to get a job, if they constantly think you're too good??? I hate this. I can't even imagine how he feels right now. He's had a busy day, so I'm sure he hasn't had time to dwell on it. Thank goodness.

It's official! They opened up registration for the MCM10K today and I'm in! Officially running my first race in October down in DC! Excited and scared at the same time!

Well, have a great evening everyone! See you on the flip side!

Lisa ~ I hope you're feeling better today!!

Cindi ~ Thinking about you and KA. I can't wait to hear all about it.

Tricia ~ Bummer! Sorry your husband didn't get a call back. :( Don't give up hope yet! He will find the right job, that one just wasn't it.

Congrats on getting in the MCM10K. You're going to have a blast and kill that course!! I just made hotel reservations for the 1/2 marathon that I'm doing in November.

Alisha ~ Hope your arm is feeling better enough to workout but not to do the dishes!! :p

Jane - I've been wondering and keep forgetting to ask, but where do you do your workouts at? I would think you'd need some space and a measured area for the sprints? Inquiring mind wants to know! LOL!

Thanks for the cheering up!

Hi ladies,
I'm having a rough time emotionally right now and so I'm working on my second migraine in 3 days. I'm going to go grow crawl in a hole and will check back in on you ladies when I crawl back out. I did Pyramid full body yesterday and a short dog walk. Flew to NYC today for work and to see my brother and his family.

Lisa

HI ladies! Rest day yesterday although I did go for a walk with Paul (11). I was going to run 2 this morning and 3 this evening but there was a thunderstorm this morning so I'm running 5 later today.

Lisa - I hope you feel better soon. Maybe seeing your brothers will help. (HUGS!)

Jane and Alisha - HI!

Tricia - I'm sorry your DH didn't get called back - I'm sure the right job will come along for him.

Ok - here's the King Arthur story so you can skip it if you want. I'm sure I will write too much!

KA Flour Company is such a great company. I already was a fan of their products, but the fact that they do this program makes me love them more.
- Last week they sent for each child: packet of yeast, bread bag and tie, dough scraper, recipe/instruction booklet, 2# bag all-purpose flour, 2# bag white whole wheat flour. I and several moms and kid volunteers had to package up 275 'kits' and distribute them to the various classrooms for distribution after the assembly.
- Prior to that, I had to contact the local newspapers and find a local charity that would accept the bread the kids would make. Each child has the opportunity to make 2 loaves of bread - one would be packaged and donated, one would be enjoyed.
- Monday morning, the kids are bringing their loaves of bread back to school and I'm hauling them to a local food pantry.
- oh - all the supplies and the presenter's time and travel expenses are covered by KA Flour!

So yesterday was the big day of the presentation. We had an auditorium filled with 275 or so 7th graders who were just a great audience.
The presenter was this wonderful woman, Paula, who has taught middle school in the past and really knows her stuff. They set up a camera pointed down to her table and it projects up like a cooking show so the kids can all see. She had two helpers (my son David and a girl named Skye - Honor didn't want to help and be in front of the class so she helped behind the scenes). She also had 2 boys who were the designated photographers. The kids had tons of fun.
During the presentation, she showed how to make the dough, she talked about yeast, measuring, kneading and had David and Skye making the dough while she talked.
Then she put that dough away and brought out some dough that had already been rising and had Sky demonstrate making cinnamon rolls and a braided loaf. She had David throwing the dough for pizza and he really did do it! There is a trick she walked him through and he did a great job tossing it up in the air. Lots of applause from the crowd!

That was about it - took about an hour total time. Each of the presenters recieved a cool KA Flour apron and the school library recieved a free copy of the Whole Grain Baking book from KA Flour.

The kids all seemed very enthusiastic - I hope we get lots of bread on Monday.

Last night when the kids were going to bed, David said he had a lot of fun and he thanked me for organizing the day. :)

Cindi- What an awesome thing to get to do! Wish I had been there!

Tricia- Sometimes we get lucky and our prayers are answered in a different way than expected, I'm in the job market too so I have nothing but sympathy for your DH but I keep telling myself that the right job will come up soon and I bet its going to be true for him too.

I just got back from my first 3 miles since Monday. Sheesh. You go to the dr. for a check up and she nonchanlantly schedules you for a tetanus shot and voila no workouts for a week. Its a good thing I work for myself too, cause ain't no way I was doing any video! My arm is getting better. I'm going to be working on video editing all day (less left arm duty.) and I'm holding out on the dishes and laundry till Monday ;)

Hi Everyone!

I'm taking a rest day today. Mom had her port in this morning so I was at the hospital at 6:30am. My poor sister had to be there at 5am. Anyway, it's all good with mom. She is on her way home. The doctor told me "your mom is a free spirit and a breath of fresh air". LOL!! She makes everyone laugh and have a good time.

Lisa ~ {{{Hugs}}} I hope you feel better soon! Have a good time visiting with your brother.

Tricia ~ I do most of my workouts at home and have marked the road I live on with the distance of 100m, 200m, etc. It's not accurate by any means but I figure it's close enough. The road is dirt so we get very little traffic but that will change as soon as they pave the road. :( I also go to the track when I can and do workouts there.

Cindi ~ Thanks for the sharing your KA experience. I LOVE KA and buy many of their products. It sounds like everyone had a great time. I hope you get lots of bread on Monday.

Alisha ~ Great job on the 3 miles. Yes, definitely hold out as long as you can on the dishes and laundry!! :)

Hope everyone has a great day!

Just home for lunch everyone and caught the check-in!

Cindi - Sounds like everyone had lots of fun! Give David a ^5 for me on the pizza dough! I'd probably drop it on the floor and it'd be a puppy snack! I hope you get lots of lovely loaves to distribute!

Alisha - Seems that everyone is getting told not to do anything vigorous until the arm gets better from a shot! Hm.

Jane - So glad she got her port in with no problems today! That's an early start! Nice that you have a place to do sprints right there at home! We have a very busy street, so I'm not sure how that's going to work for me starting next week! I definitely will be wearing my yellow jacket!

Sorry to be whining so much ladies! Thanks for all your encouragement! I know everything will work out the way it's supposed to. I think as I get older, I'm just losing my patience. I must work on that! I even did yoga and some meditation this morning!

I'll be in JAX FL this weekend. Flying down (my brother paid) to go visit Mom with him for Mother's Day. Just a whirlwind one-nighter! We're surprising her. She knows he's coming, but thinks I couldn't make it! She's going to totally freak out! I'm hoping to get my brother out for a run with me! We'll see . . . Mom seems to have scheduled some events, so I'm not even sure we'll have time for a run, but I'm going to try!

Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Lisa - I'm hoping you're feeling much better soon!

Be back on Monday!

Tricia ~ We'll only be 2 1/2 hours away from each other. Next time you come down, we'll have to meet and do a race together in JAX!!

Have fun!!!

Oh, Jane! I hadn't even thought of that! Yes, definitely! That will be a lot of fun! I'll let you know next time I'm down for more than a day!

We named my Aunt Peggy's port. I forget what she called it. I'm so glad it went well for your Mom Jane, it wasn't easy for my Aunt Peggy because her tumor got in the way:rolleyes:

I'm just going for a walk/hike today. I'm not up to down ward facing dog or Cathe, I don't think I can resist the urge to put my arms over my head!

Hi Everybody!!!!!

Get your game face on

Its run time (almost) It might sprinkle tomorrow so I'm taking advantage of today. Then later, I might do some easy yoga.

I see no one has been here since I was so just a little shout out!

Thanks ladies, still working on it.

I haven't worked out since Wednesday but have been doing a lot of walking around NYC. I was going to run to the Brooklyn Bridge this morning but it is so windy I don't know if I will. If I don't, I'll do some BBL - probably High and Tight and Bum Bum Rapido.

I hope everyone has great workouts and a happy Mother's Day.
Lisa

Happy Mother's Day! I'm a little late, but my mom doesn't have wireless at her house, so I wasn't able to get on over the weekend.

My brother and I really surprised my mom yesterday! It was perfect! She had dinner out and tickets to a show of Elvis impersonators for last night, so we sat down for about 45 minutes, then headed out the door! Got in late and were up early again today for Mother's Day breakfast at their church and mass. Whew! I'm exhausted! Between all the flying and all the activities over this last 24 hours, I'm beat up and we didn't have time to get out for a run, darn it! The weather was perfect though. It was mid 80s, but the humidity was low and there was a nice breeze! I was all prepped for nice humid southern weather!
So, it's back on track tomorrow!

Take care everyone!

Hi Tricia and Lisa

I'm taking today off. My Mom reminded me not to beat myself up for being worn out. Since its rainy and bleh out there, I'm taking a rest day.

Alisha

That's a great idea Alisha. I haven't worked out today yet either. I took the day off to recoup from my trip. I'm hoping to have the energy for it later this afternoon!

Enjoy your rest day!

Hi ladies! I didn't get in my run on Friday and Saturday was a planned rest day. But I did run 7 yesterday. :) Beautiful day.

Saturday I took David to a Table Tennis Tournament - he placed 2nd. It was really fun. Then we went to see Ironman 2 (GOOD!). Pete took Honor to an orchestra contest at Six Flags, Great America. The orchestra placed first overall.

This morning I collected over 100 loaves of bread for the food pantry from the 7th graders. :) Yesterday we made bread and cinnamon rolls. YUM.
