Cathe,

I am a 47 year old female, marathon runner and would like to know which DVD's would be best for me. Your imput would be appreciated.

Welcome! What are you looking for - strength, cardio, circuits, etc.? We will be more than happy to spend your money for you!

Ok, a few more questions then. ARe you new to weight training or have you done some pretty intense training before? Plus do you want to build strength or build endurance?

Oh, by the way Welcome to the wonderful world of Cathe!

Can't really help out with your question as I don't have many of the weights videos, however from one Josie to another - a very warm welcome to you!

Hi Josie...I'm a 44 year old female, marathon runner...(although currently injured..:(). All of Cathe's DVD's are wonderful. I see she gave you a great breakdown...Welcome!!...Carole

Thank you Cathe and Ladies for all the responses. I'm not new to weight training. I usually go to the gym, but I'm looking for tapes to do at home. That way I have no excuse not to do it:)

Carole, I'm just coming back from an injury also, I was supposed to run the Tucson, AZ marathon in December and two months before that I pulled a calf muscle. What is your next goal?

Josie

Hi...yuk about your calf muscle. I tore mine a bit about 4 yrs ago, but 5 times of Physical Therapy sure helped! I have Achilles Tendonitis now. It just won't go away. But I am doing Nordic Track and Cathe's aerobics and it doesn't hurt then. My next goal, I'm not sure. I did my 1st 50K on trails Sep of 2002. I'd like to do another one, so maybe this coming Sept. Sorry you had to cancel the Tucson marathon..:(...Any goals for you?...Carole

RE: Josie

My next goal is the San Diego Rock and Roll marathon on June 7th.
Hopefully I will be injury free by then. What has kept me in shape has been doing spinning and yoga along with the elliptical machine.

RE: Josie

That's great. I know some friends that have done the Rock and Roll marathon. I might just make that one year. I love Rock and Roll music. I would think that spinning, yoga and the elliptical machine would keep you in good shape. What I have found about weights,is I truly believe they help prevent injuries. Upper body lifting seems to benefit during the last few miles of a marathon or longer run when you get tired. Lower body can help build emdurance in your legs too. How many marathons have you done?...:)...Carole

RE: Josie

I have done 11. I live in Calif so I haven't ventured very far! The most beautiful was Tahoe, also my slowest. My favorite would be CIM in Sacramento as that is where I PR'd. Have you ever thought about doing a 50K?...Carole

RE: Josie

Wow....my old stomping grounds! I was born in Santa Monica, lived in Culver City til 1980. Got married and moved up to Shasta County, about 2 and a half hours north of Sac. Have you lived in Playa Del Rey long?

RE: Josie

I I lived at Mariners Village for 10 years and then we bought a house in Westchester near LMU and have been there for 3 years. I love the area and since I work at UCLA, it is very convenient for my work and my running. There is going to be a Marathon in Malibu in December, you should try and do that one.

RE: Josie

I am familiar with all those places you mentioned. I just needed to get away from the city. Always loved camping up here with my family. We all live here now...which is very nice. A Malibu Marathon, that would be cool. I will think about it if this injury goes away...My sister wants to do the Western Hemishpere which is in Culver City and also in Dec. But 4 times around a 6.5 mile course.....BORING!!...:)...thanks for the info....Carole

RE: Josie

Hi Carole,

Thew Western Hemisphere was cancelled last year because of lack of support from Culver City. They may not have it again this year. You should convince your sister to do the Malibu Marathon. Go to malibumarathon.com and show the the course.

RE: Josie

Thanks Josie for the info. I will check out that site. I would love to do Malibu but it all depends on my injury...:(...I think my sister would like it too...:)...Carole
