New & Male Cathe fan!

Hi Everyone!

I did my first Cathe workout - the CTX Step Interval. I was so excited to do it on my brand new Step - well I was struggling to match Cathe's moves, it was hard, but whenever i couldn't match, I did some of my own moves. This cardio was better than my stationary bike! Then the chest workout. I felt so energized after workout, and felt an endorphin high that lasted in the afternoon!

Does anyone recommend a Cathe step video that would help me with the CTX step moves?

By the way I do not like The Firm's format, there is something impersonal about them and the way they splice and paste the scenes! I returned Upper Body and Lower Body Split.

Has anyone experienced the Power90 program by Tony Horton?

Mega Step Blast and Step Heat are much easier to follow because she breaks the moves down a lot more. CTX uses a lot of moves from her previous videos and therefore doesn't break them down as well.

If you prefer DVD you can try her Cario Hits DVD but they are harder to follow then Mega Step Blast or Step Heat. Cathe will be releasing a Classics DVD in a bit and that might me worth waiting for also, since it will probably have Step Heat or Mega Step Blast and a couple of other less "cheography intense" workouts

Hope this helps some.

Welcome to this forum. My favorate Cathe step tape is Rhythmic Step. It's really fun. It's 60 minutes. I would learn one section at a time until you get it all down. Not to mention viewing it a few times prior to actually doing it. It took me a few tries in the beginning, espec. the second to last section. The CTX cardio is good when your weight training if you don't want to do an hour of cadio or if you do some cardio in the am and some in the pm. I find the 30 minutes intense but worth it. It gets easier the more you do it. Just keep at it and before you know it it will be easier to know whats coming next. My favorate is Kickboxing and All Step and Step with Intervals.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info & welcome Dawn and Faythe,

After experiencing Cathe's video, not sure if i want others. I'd like to wait for the Cathe Classic dvd, however knowing myself I may be ordering the Rythmic-MIC-Interval Max and Cardio Hits dvds. Also I have a video that came with the new step i bought which i can use in the interim.

I"ll be traveling in VA this week, so I'll be just using a stationary bike at the hotel instead of Cathe's workout :(.

When do you guys work out in the morn or eve? I have to run.

Thanks
Paresh

Hi PK, welcome to the forum! It's nice to have some males around here!! I was just interested in hearing about your prior workout experience or maybe lack there of, how you got interested/found out about Cathe, and as a male, do you get harassed by your gym-oriented friends for working out with videos, I know as a female I do, just wondering if it was possibly worse as a male?? And, to answer your question, I workout in the mornings on some days, in the evenings on others, depends on my work schedule. Of the CTX cardio I like kickbox and 10/10/10 best and rarely do All Step or Step&Intervals, not sure why, I think the choreography is just a tad too dancey for me. I pretty much stick with Cathe tapes too, however I do own quite a few Mindy Mylrea tapes. If you're not familiar with her, she does mostly athletic/power moves and her personality cracks me up. I just got her Action Packed video on trade and previewed it and laughed out loud at so many of her comments, and the workout looks awesome too. Geez, I'm rambling!! Anyway, welcome aboard!

Personally I work out in the morning, but everyone here varies on when they workout. Enjoy your travel this week,

Re: When I work out, I am currently unemployed so I'm able to spread my w/o's out more. I do a power walk (low intensity) in the mornings with my DH. Then after lunch I do weights and cardio usually 2 hours then if all goes well and it's not a laundry and errand day, I will do roller blading or a hike on a path with hills in the later afternoon before dinner. If that doesn't work out I'll do some stretching for like an hour. I do this 6 times a week. The 7th day my body is tired so I just do the walk in the morning with my DH and maybe stretching.
BTW, have fun in VA. Perhaps you can find time to hike or walk outdoors. It should be nice there at this time of year. Just a thought.

Hi, PK!! I agree with the recommend of Mega Step Blast. Try just that one--it is Hard, well instructed. If you like it, you can move on to Step Fit, Step Heat and some others. Welcome!! Murph
