How about an Imax that, instead of a new step routine each time, accumulates the step moves as it goes through the (7-10)intervals for a layering affect? The first few intervals would be tougher than the last, as the beginning step portions should be shorter. But, it would end with less interval time and longer step time with a complete (probably short) routine. Recuperation could even be shorter towards the end.

Yes I like this idea. It's the step combos in between intervals that are the hardest to learn. I never remember them, they seem too "throw away", but they should still be part of the main event. Making the cardio step portions an extended "add-on" routine will keep the emphasis on fun cardio while waiting for the next killer interval. It might also cut down on the IMAX dread factor.
