Hi, I have been reading the boards for about 2 weeks now. I dont currently own any of Cathe's DVDs but I plan to buy the Intensity Series next month. I am a mother of 5 and right now I weigh about 209lbs and I am 5'3. I would like to lose 80lbs slowly. Since reading the boards and working out to Cathe's workouts on FitTV I have lost 4lbs. I am hoping to reach my goal weight by my 40th birthday in November. Hopefully i will have a nice post in the success stories section pretty soon. I am working out 6 days a week to whatever Fittv shows for Cathe. So far I have done, bootcamp, ME, Step Blast, Power Hour, RS, PUB and KPC. Today I will try IMAX 2. I noticed though I may need a bigger step because I am afraid I may twist my ankle on the smaller one that I have. From reading previous posts it looks like walmart.com is my best bet for that. Or should I try ebay? I have a lot of weight to lose. Do you think 6 days a week is enough or should I try to work out twice a day?

Hi there,
Welcome to the forum. I lost almost 100 pounds of pregnancy weight doing mostly Cathe. I only worked out once a day but I watched my eating very closely. I do have a cheat meal once a week but the rest of the time, it's healthy (unfortunately ;-) ) If I were you, I'd work out to Cathe once a day and if you feel up to go for a walk after dinner, you could do that. I'd take it slowly and modify for a while. That's what I did for a couple of months. I'm looking foward to seeing your success story on the forum. I love reading these things.

You could try the EBay but I bought mine from Sports Authority 5 yrs ago for 75 bucks. OUCH. I think Target has some, too.

Anyway, good luck on your weight loss journey and hope you enjoy this forum. :)

I went to the local SA. Back then, I wasn't too keen on ordering things online but now I do most of my shopping online as I can't stand the crowd at malls, etc. Sometimes SA have a sale. If you have Dick's Sporting Goods near you, I'd check it out as well. I know the feeling about working out on the club step. I'm a little over 6' tall and it was uncomfortable as my legs are too long. I was afraid to break my leg or something. The Step is a lot better. You can feel a HUGE difference.

Welcome ALbeernier!

Your situation reminds me of a lovley lady named Donna (GettinFiT or GettinFit at 38) who posted here years ago. She wanted to loose a substantial amount ofweight and did! She began with Cathe workouts too.
Any way, my opinion is that 6 workuts per week is plenty and one rest day per week is important for your body. It is VERY important that you find a healthy eating plan that you can live with too. Many people here have preferences on eating plans and you can just find one that will work for your life as a busy Mom. Keep it simple! I have done Weight Watchers in the past, and it can work. I recommend you read Body for Life for Women by Pamela Peeke. The author is an internist; it is not a fad system of eating. BFL is solid good nutrition, meant to be simple.

Sparkpeople.com is rather popular too. I haven't spent very much time there but it appears to be simple, and have a holistic approach to nutrition.

good Luck !

Welcome! Glad to see you here! Congrats on all of your babies :) and on your new fitness goals. I think you will find that there are a lot of helpful people here, and some have extensive knowledge whose brains we love to pick. :)

If you want to work out twice a day, I would recommend doing 20-30 minutes in the morning then 20-30 in the late afternoon/early evening to give your metabolism a little boost. I have found that for me this can even be more beneficial and efficient than doing 45-60 minutes at one time. However, everybody's bodies are different, so you just have to listen to your body and do what feels best for you and fits into your schedule.

Good luck, and I hope to see you around lots! :)

Welcome, and good luck meeting your goals!!!

You want to buy the "original club step." Do a google search for the best deals. I bought mine on amazon.com, because the shipping was free, although I think you can get better deals if you look carefully.
