New here. Question about eating?

Hi everyone! I just discovered Cathe workouts on FitTV at 8am and 11am! I was doing the Firm 3x per week for my weight workouts, but now have been doing Cathe workouts. They are great.. i am seeing great results in building muscle and toning, but I really need to loose about 5-10lbs to really how the defination. What sort of eating plan does everyone use? I know Diets don't work, but I am really looking for a plan that I can stick too long term... nothing drastic, but something I can actually do. I know eating more protien is good for building the muscle.. anyone have any good tips? Thanks, I look forward to getting to know everyone!
 
I think most people here would agree that clean eating is the best eating plan for fat loss and a healthy body in general. That is, simply avoiding any processed foods - eating foods only in their most unprocessed, natural state. For example, having an apple instead of applesauce. Having whole grain bread instead of white bread. Staying away from refined sugars, and anything "white" - color is your friend. Do most of your grocery shopping on the perimeter of the grocery store - fresh produce, fresh lean meats, fresh dairy. I'm sure the other folks here can give you more advice. :)

Glad you joined us here - welcome. You'll get addicted to Cathe really quick (if you aren't already)! Keep that credit card securely in your wallet cuz you'll want to order all her videos. :D
 
Thanks for the tips. I love those carbs so that will be the hardest for me. I think once I get out of the habit of eating them I will be much better off and I probaly won't miss them so much. :)
 
We're not saying you have to give up carbs. Just the refined ones! You still need carbs, especially for doing tough Cathe workouts - the energy you get from carbohydrates is a necessity. They should be complex carbs though - from fruits, veggies, and whole grains.

And don't think that all of us are perfect with our diets. I had a chocolate donut this morning and I'm only a teeny tiny bit remorseful. Hee hee! ;)
 
Emily~I love your quote in your siggy! I am no quitter either..hehe so I guess I'll still have to have my choclate. :) I think I probaly eat way to many.. I drink sweet tea a lot in the summer, white bread, crackers, cereals, I am trying to do better w/ these. I don't like meat so I am finding it hard to eat a lot of protien so I have been trying to eat more yogurt, lower fat cheeses, and things like that to get some protien.. I just see lots of ladies w/ the nice defined arms and wonder what sort of diet they have do keep so lean.
