Hello, I just found out I am pregnant with #4, we are so excited. I am a stay at home/homeschool mom of 3, 8yo boy, 7yo girl, and 4yo girl. We just decided to go ahead and have 1 more baby and 2 weeks later I turn up pregnant....is that quick or what??? I am so glad to see that ya'll have check-ins, this will definately help me alot.
I see that many of you are really keeping your weight under control. I would love a sample of what you eat in a day. I also see that many of you are still doing Cathes intense workouts, so I am assuming it is ok?? I know alot has changed over the past few years with pregnancy and exercise! I LOVE intense workouts and keep up with Cathe really well. Any exercise advice would be great!!

I look foward to getting to "know" you all. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!!!

Blessings, Jennifer H

Hi Jennifer and congratulations and welcome to the forum!! It will be fun to have someone else checking in the prego workout checkin - although I'm not sure where Melanie is....I've been waiting for her to post the weeks check in...hope she is doing fine!!

Yes a lot of advise has changed over the last few years, and it continues to change....but amazingly pregnancy has not and won't :7 :7 :7 .

I continue to do my Cathe workouts, although early on I was sick, very tired and missed a lot. My energy has recently picked up and I'm back at the intensity series...I'm due in 23 days. My advise is to listen to your body...it will let you know if you shouldn't be doing something.

Hope to see you on the weekly check in...(melanie are you out there??)

Hi,

Welcome and congratulations!! I'm due to deliver my 4th child in 6 days!! (induction due to REALLY fast labors and the Dr. is worried I won't make it to the hospital if I go on my own).

Unfortunately I have not been able to workout since my 5th month due to bleeding/early contractions but I have gained less than half this time than with my first 3. I gained over 60 with EACH of my first 3 and as of my Dr. apt yesterday I'm up 24 lbs.

The thing that really helped me this time is eating almost no junk, staying away from processed food, and as tedious as it may sound I have been counting calories at the suggestion of my Dr. and it has worked out great. I eat 2,000-2,500 calories a day and that has helped me gain a healthy amount for the baby but not too much for me.

I hope you have a healthy pregnancy.

Thanks Amy:) How old are your other children? You will have to let me know what it is like with 4 kiddo's!!! I do plan to really watch what I eat! I do not want to have a ton of weight to lose after I deliver. I know I will be extra busy with 4!!! I hope you have a great delivery. Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
Welcome and congratulations. I am a homeschool mom also and exercise really helps me with my stress level:7. We just had number 5. As far as working out is concerned, just listen to your body, unless your doctor gives you particular instructions because you have some special difficult circumstance in your pregnancy. I have no words of wisdom regarding weight control during pregnancy, because I am always a big gainerx( , although, doing Cathe throughout my pregnancy this time caused me to gain a lot less than before.

take care

Hi Maggie, Wow!! #5, that is awesome!! Is it tough to homeschool with 5? I am nervouse about adding this fourth, and homeschooling, but I know it will all work out! Our first three kiddo's are so close in age. Can I be nosy and ask what curriculum you use? We are thinking of trying Sonlight next year, simply because it is all laid out for me. Any advice would be great!! Thanks again, Jennifer

Hi again Jennifer,
My kids are 6, 4, and 16 months. I'm going to have my hands full with 3 kids not even in elementary school!! I'm sure you will be great. Anyone who has enough patience to homeschool has my respect and must be a very patient person to begin with. I am a little worried about juggling the 4 kids but I figure I've already got 3 small kids so the 4th will fit right in. The 16 month old and newborn will be tough to juggle but at least I'm still in the diaper/stroller mode so the baby will just fit right in.

Homeschooling with 5 is a bit of an adjustment, but between my husband and me, we are making it work. Sometimes I have to finish teaching in the evenings when he is there to help with the littlest ones. The house is somewhat messy, even though we clean and pick up daily. We school year round, taking time when we need it and that helps.

I think Sonlight would be wonderful. If I had my way, I would use it. My husband, however, who teaches history prefers Veritas and so we use a chronological history approach supplimented with biographies and historical literature, depending on what we are studying. We used Greenleaf history to start with. For math, I prefer Saxon and have been extremely pleased with the results. I am still searching for a phonics program that I like for my 1st grader. We use Latina Christiana for Latin. We use Shurley English for grammar and writing, supplemented with Writing Strands and other writing projects. We use spelling power for Spelling and the Maps, Charts, and Graphs series (modern curriculum press)along with the World mags for kids for geography. Science is sort of hit and miss. I have no time for it now. I would love to use Sonlight science, but it is expensive and I am afraid that I would spend all that money and it wouldn't get done.

Don't worry. It will all work out :). And if your husband is cool with Sonlight, I would go for it.

Oh and by the way, I am not especially patient}( by nature, but I am learning as we go:D .

take care,
Maggie
