New Bar Method DVD's

Hi Everyone,
Have any of you tried the new Bar Method DVD's or videos yet?
I got them and have used them once so far.
One thing I discovered about myself is that I have very tight hamstrings and quads.
Of all the exercise I do,....aerobics, weights. walking and Pilates, my legs are very tight.

There is an ab exercise in this series where you sit with your legs behind you. Then you try to lean back as far as you can with your arms straight as high as you can. Whoa! I couldn't go very far because of the quads. Were they ever tight!
I can sit on the floor, legs straight and get my head to the right knee....I can't figure out why the quads refused to do this simple exercise.}(

I've been doing the BB series ALOT.(once a week + the IS series thrown in) Is it possible I'm making my legs stronger and I need to incorporate more stretching? + I added a riser to my high step...I went from 14" to 16"
Inquiring mind needs to know. :p ;-)

I don't have a verdict yet on the Bar Method as I've only been through the hoops once. Yet I feel the glutes get a trememdous workover. Ouch!

Hi Wanda! I bought this series in DVD. I did Designer Sculpting the other day and wow! I was very sore in my hamstrings and a little in my glutes. I would have never expected that these tiny little movements would hit me the way they did. I still need to try Fat Free. I skipped the abs that day, but I'm sure I would have had a little trouble with the part you described. I'm not real flexible through the quads either.

I think I will enjoy incorporating these workouts with my Cathe's. Something quick and not too intense for those days I want an extra leg workout, and don't feel like going all out.

Take care :D

I ordered mine from www.deepdiscountdvd.com as I was happy with the $$$ savings. I think the price has gone up a little, since I ordered mine in the presale, though.
The ab move I was talking about is in the Fat Free DVD.
And Whoa, those little tiny but very fast buttock tuck moves really do get ya, don't they? }( And those plie squats 10 slow, 10 fast, while on your toes, heals close together with the Bar Method tilt in the torso ..... I thought my legs were in good shape before this......
looks like I have more work to do. LOL

Since I did Step Blast this morning, (have to do something Cathe everyday LOL) I'm thinking of doing the Designer Sculpt later on today. This will make it twice doing this DVD. The Bonus section at the end of the DVD went by very fast. I'm thinking it is only 5 min or so?

Thanks for letting me know I'm not going cuckoo.(well that is debatable in some circles hahahah) It is good to know I'm not alone in this tight hamstring, quad thing.

Wanda, I know what you mean! When I previewed the workouts I thought "this doesn't look too difficult"! My legs were shaking and I even broke a sweat! Working my lower body is not my favorite thing to do which is why I wanted to add something a little different. With these DVDs I'm hoping I'll get in two lower body days instead of one or in most cases, none! Legs and Glutes sounds like a LB workout that will fit me well. (will have that one in just a few days!)

By the way, what MT course did you decide on? Sounds like you're moving right along!

Take care,

Vickie, I went for the CAI course. I think I may be able to go a little bit faster now. I was trying to memorize all the terms as I went along. I would type them in my Word document file for each chaper. Then I would repeat them over and over so I could get all the answers right on the chapter tests. My Instructor said ' no no no' all I need to do is get familiar with the terms. I'm just supposed to do reference work at the moment. She said it may seem trite but many people don't know where to look for the answers.
Hey, I've done filing for a Partnership for some 20 years. I think I can 'reference'. LOL
I will spend the more time typing the terms to get familiar with them. Then it is on to Abbreviations, medicines, then Doctor dictation....the hardest part.
There is this neat little CD that has 10 or so little tests after each chapter. It has an audio test so you can hear the words pronounced. There is also 11 discs with the course that not only has dictation, but all the words you learn from each chapter.
The object is to type the words as fast as they are being spoken.
Yeah...right!;-) }( I can only type polymorphonuclear leukocyte so fast. hahahaha

I am enjoying learning as much as I can. I noticed Cathe used a few of my new vocabulary words in the new videos. She used, 'superior, inferior, lateral' when refering to what part of the muscle we are to work on. I said to her on the TV, 'hey, I know what That means.' :p

I'd better get that Designer Sculpt out now. Then back to my homework. Thanks for asking about my new venture. And yes....looks like the DVD's are on there way.
Can't wait to check out the premixes. I want to add the Upper Body weight work all together to make a full upper body routine. }( Then put all the cardio together....then play with combos of BB and IS oh the possibilities will keep me busy for a long time. LOL

I have got to stop checking these forums. There is always information on good fitness deals, and I'm going broke from ordering. (But, I also enjoy them when they arrive.) Just ordered the Bar Method Body set from Deep Discount. I already have Lotte Berk and like them so thought this would be a good continuation. Thanks for the heads up!
