Need your advice

I am 48 years old and have been working out consistently for the past 2 1/2 years. I've lost about 60 lbs in that time, but have had such a struggle losing the last 20. I work out at least 6 days a week. My workout consists of an hour of cardio every day and weight training every other. I've only been working out with Cathe for the past 3 weeks or so and I am noticing some improvement. My cardio consists of a 5 mile run on the treadmill every other day, with an hour on the elliptical on alternate days. I've just ordered some of Cathe's tapes, I especially like the pyramid weight training and the slow and heavy series. While my diet isn't perfect, I do try to watch what I eat. I realize age is a factor, but any advice will be greatly appreciated.:) :)

HI,
I'm not Cathe, but I was in your situation. It seemed that the more I worked out the less I would lose even though I ate clean. It turns out that I was consistent with my eating but actually over exercising thereby throwing my body into starvation mode, so it was hanging onto everything. I cut my cardio down to 4 hours a week instead of 6 and kept my weight training to 3 days, alternating- upper, lower, upper one week, and lower, upper, lower the next. Then the wait started to drop again. So if you are going to do that much cardio make sure you are taking in enough GOOD, clean food to support you. Age is a factor but not as much as we like to think....be proud of the changes you made and how far you've come. PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION I hope this helps

I found that I too was working out too much for my food intake. I eat fairly "clean" and was doing 30 min eliptical in the AM then a couple days of step and 3 days weights per week. Couldn't budge the belly fat or the scale. Just stopped the AM routines last week and began a "Freestyle" workout with lunges and have dropped the belly, a couple lbs and am diminishing the saddlebags too.

Am enjoying spending a little less time with better results.:)
