Hi All,

I am trying to plan what vids to buy next month - I am DEFINITELY investing in MIS and POWERHOUR, because I need some all out/full on strength tapes, but not sure what to go for, for my third and fourth tape ? I already have MSBlast, Wedding, Cardio Kicks, Powermax, Imax, Circuit max. I am not sure about MIC, as the thought does terrify me ! And I will be investing in the CTX Series in January.

Suggestions welcome !

many thanks

Anna

Hi anna,
MIC would be a great work out to get next. You don't have to do it all one time, you can break it up a little.
If you are use to stepping by now and Cathes cueing,Rythmic Step is a awesome tape to.The music is so upbeat and new.I love it.But it does take a couple of workouts to get it all down pat.
Do you have BOdy MAx? This was my first Cathe tape and I still love to do it.Just some suggestions...
Have a good day,
Lori

Thanks Lori,

I forgot all about BODY MAX - what is the cardio portion like ? Is it anything like MIC ? It is probably a good one to go for as it also has a strength/weights part to it.

Thanks for that :)

Anna

Hi, Anna! I think Body Max and MIC would be great choices for your fourth and fifth selections.

The cardio portion of Body Max is divided into a standard step aerobics routine and then a 20-minute step circuit routine using dumbbells and a barbell (leg circuits only) that I absolutely love. The aerobic and weighted segments are each briefer than Circuit Max (cycles are ~3 minutes step : 1 minute resistance interval each, whereas Circuit Max is 5 minutes cardio : 2 minutes resistance interval each), and that gives you a nice bit of variety from Circuit Max. The cardio is all step; no hi/lo or kickbox.

MIC is different - it has a blast-your-bum-off hi/lo segment, and then an extended (~36 minute) step segment; no resistance intervals. Again, a good bit of variety, especially keeping hi/lo in the mix to keep you moving after slower-paced step and kickbox.

Buy Away!

Hi again
If you get a dvd player for Christmas.I suggest Cardio Hits & Cathe Classic. They are so much fun.If you are buying vhs then perhaps Body Max.It has everything.

Hi Anna, I think I started hanging out here about the same time you did. ;)

Here's my input which I'm warning you will not help you make a decision:

I only have an hour or so to work out during the week and lean towards cardio. It's just my natural inclination although I am trying to incorporate more weights. I don't seem to get in as much lifting as I'd like unless I do the CTX rotation during the week (which is great) and a full out session on the weekend.

Since I wasn't sure if I should get the Intensity Series or not, I went ahead and bought the PH/MIS/BM and RS/IM/MIC DVDs last weekend.. interesting logic, hunh? I also have Cardio Hits and CTX Series.

Anyhoo, I did Interval Max this morning and really got into it --both from a fun perspective and from an intensity standpoint. I was inspired to do power scissors and jump in the air (Surprisingly enough my knees aren't hurting but luckily I only had time to make it through interval 3 before I had to get the kids ready for school).

Body Max is intense and slotted in for my Saturday workout ..so that I'll have the time to do it in its entirety and have a day of rest.

So yes.. you should buy them all :D

Hi Anna,

I think MIC would be great- it can be broken into two workouts and it would still be intense, plus when you get to the point when you get through the whole tape you will know you kick a**!
I also love Rhythmic Step and I also think Step Works is a lot of fun! Man, I haven't done that type in forever. I know what I'm doing this weekend!

Anna - Hi. I vote for a step tape---how about Step Fit? I enjoy all of Cathe's tapes (got 'em all) but for some reason, Step Fit ranks high for me in terms of all out "fun." The choreography isn't too tough (aside from Flying Angels for which Cathe has an easy modification). If you want to focus on strength, I highly recommend you invest in the Slow Heavy series. I've gotten some excellent strength gains from doing those tapes. Whatever tape you choose, you won't be disappointed if it's a Cathe. Have an excellent Friday, Suzanne
