Need to firm up my legs!

I carry most of my weight in my lower body so it's really difficult to firm up my legs. I've been doing weighted workouts about 3 times a week and cardio 3-4 days a week, but I'm not seeing too much improvement in the butt & thigh area.

I was thinking of doing 2 days of intense upper body lifting and 2 days of stuff like plyos and toning exercises without weights for legs, then a total body strength workout for a 3rd strength day. What do you guys think? Do you think the plyos will be more helpful for my lower body than weighted-workouts? Any suggestions on what kind of program I should do would be greatly appreciated!!! TIA!!

If you are looking to slim down the lower body then perhaps something along the lines of freestyle training would be best. I am far from an expert on it but it's 4-6 days a week of light weight/high rep leg training I believe. I did a loose freestyle rotation once and I did see results. The problem is that it can be very time consuming.

Hi

Plyo and heavy weight training worked for me. Meso 2 legs workouts are great and I meso three plyo. I like Cathe Gym Style legs, Leaner legs, Butts and Guts (oh yeah), and all her leg workouts. I usually work my legs twice a week Monday and Friday or Saturday. Since I use really heavy weights, have great results.
I also do just heavy weight training week and plyo week, Imax week, runing week and off week light cardio and light weights. I like to surprise, shock my body. :p
And I also changed my diet. I eat very clean. I prepare everything at home yogurt, sour cream, bread I mean everything.:)

Timea is right. I prepare most everything myself too (although I've never made my own sour cream, thats new to me.) If I had the money I would have my own cow (no seriously, I live in the country.)

I do very low or no weight lower body work, I figure at my weight its actually a heavy weight workout :p I mean, I see Cathe lift 50 pounds and I think yeah I weigh at least 50 more than she does so thats about the same, right? ;) Jogging intervals seems to have the most effect on my lower body. I am very bottom heavy too. (who am I kidding, I'm just heavy in general)

Also, watch out for dietary estrogens (like soy) which encourage the retension of body fat.

I just finished my second week of Insanity, and am amazed at how it's already slimmed down my legs/thighs and given me more lift in my booty. Even my hubby commented on it the other day! :D

All those plyo moves seem to be doing the trick!
