Need something new and fun for a workout

Anybody have some suggestions for something fun and new for exercise? I teach step, step interval, boot camp and Turbo Kick classes during the week and running intervals on the TM with Cardio Coach, also CLX, too. I need something different to get me motivated to workout in the AM.

Any ideas???

Thanks.

Marcia

Well...I hear there are alot of people doing Kettleball workouts? Maybe that would be something your interested in? Ive never tried them but want to, one day!

Good Luck:)

Ditto on the KBs. They are the perfect change up to your current workouts - I really enjoy them. I would suggest starting with Lauren Brooks DVD, but I am sure others here will have some additional suggestions. Enjoy:D

This might sound silly, but when I need something new - I download a bunch of songs that I love to dance to, get a jump rope and just dance and jump rope around for an hour. It is really great to listen to music that gets you moving and shaking. Do any exercises you want for an hour.

Kettlebells!!! I also go to the crossfit affiliate websites and look for workouts there. I modify them in regards to the equipment I have and workout in my backyard. I also love jump roping and incorporate jump rope whenever I can.

I just purchased a new cardio DVD that is a lot of fun. Tracy Anderson Method Dance Cardio. She is Madonna and Gweneth's personal trainer. It's not a Cathe production by any means, but it is fun and a great workout. It's more dancy...no step involved. It will take a few weeks to learn all the combinations. I still have one left to learn. That being said, it's nice to have a DVD that challenges you mentally and physically. You won't be bored after the second workout I can promise you that! This is available via Amazon.

I have the Tracy Anderson Dance Cardio workout. It is a great alternative to the hard core step stuff. It is definitely dance oriented, but in a unique way. Not a bunch of salsa and cha cha stuff. Traditional dancer combinations. A good video to put in the mix. Caution...practice of these routines makes perfect. You won't get all the routines down until you do it atleast 5-6 times. But it is fun!

Seconding the dancing

This might sound silly, but when I need something new - I download a bunch of songs that I love to dance to, get a jump rope and just dance and jump rope around for an hour. It is really great to listen to music that gets you moving and shaking. Do any exercises you want for an hour.

You can also dance using Gliders, or get a Glider cardio DVD like Gliding Cardio Crazy awesome leg workout! Those Gliders rock if you've never used them, and they are inexpensive!

Kettlebells, kettlebells, kettlebells!!! And, did I mention kettlebells? I started using them almost a year ago, and they are truly amazing. True metabolic conditioning, and I've seen great changes in my body composition. They are also fun, and I have yet to experience the dread factor. I would suggest that you check out www.artofstrength.com. There are tutorial videos on just about every move, and tons of information. Go to the Minute of Strength section and watch the tutorials. Also, their dvds are excellent! They have a series called Clinic, which is for someone just starting out.

If you want a different kind of cardio, try jump roping with Michael Olajide. He is fantastic! You can pretend to jump rope and still get a great workout.
