Need some P90 (NOT X) advice.

So, DH does not work out. He does not enjoy any aspect of it, but he will walk his dogs, albeit at a slow pace and only about 3 times a week, and has started biking *some*. Again, only 2-3 days at the most, and never far or too fast. He travels Mon-Thurs and would need to do band work but has shown some interest in P90X now that I am doing it and a girl and work, along with her DH, just finished. I think he would do the hour long workouts but maybe the shorter ones would be better to get started? I know nothing about P90 except that they are a bit shorter and perhaps not as extreme. He has basically never lifted weights and wants to get into better shape, I think, and lose a few pounds. I appreciate any advice! Also, looking at the bands, would the bands in the 20-50 range be fine? Again, here I am, clueless! I think I will get a band on amazon just for the door attachment so he can do pull/chin ups in his hotel room, only with bands. Thank you for any and all input :)

The regular P90 is very different and, in my opinion, very boring. You do many, many reps of things like high stepping in place while putting your elbows to your knees, running in place, jumping jacks.... I stuck it out for a while out of sheer stubbornness because it was the first exercise video I'd ever done and most of my family had done it (didn't want them to think I couldn't, lol) but my husband wouldn't give it 10 minutes.

I think that if your husband is interested in P90X, the original P90 isn't going to motivate him, even if he can't do the whole X workouts at first, it will give him something to work toward.

I have done a rotation and my husband is in the middle of a rotation of the masters series. The nice thing about these wo's is they are shorter and one can make them as intense as you want.

P90 1/2 and 3/4 are great for beginners, I only did them for 2 weeks about 4 years ago.

The master's series is better if you have worked through the earlier dvd's, expecially if you haven't worked out for a long time. It is a good way to get ready for P90.

You don't need a pull up bar, We have pink, magenta, green and black bands. Tony shows you how to shorten them up to make the exercise harder.

Thank you both! I wish I could find a clip somewhere, but so far, have not had luck with that. I would prefer that he just do the X and modify as needed. If the workouts are at all boring, he won't do them. I need to read up on the 1/2, 3/4 and master's series. Not clear on those. Thanks again :)
