Newbie here! I'm not sure where to ask this question, please forgive me if I'm on the wrong thread.

I am 49 years old, 5 foot and weigh 125 pounds. I recently dropped 10 pounds after starting thyroid medication. I really want to loose 15 to 20 more. I felt my best at 105 to 110, before kids! I would love to also have definition. I have tons of videos, P90X, Insanity, RevAbs, Turbo Jam, and I recently just purchased several of Cathe's videos. In the past, I would always do one or two weeks and quit. I guess I didn't see the results fast enough so I would quit. I am trying to get in a new frame of mind, where I stay motivated and I have realized it takes time to make it happen. My question is with the goals that I'm looking to achieve, which video workouts do you recommend? I was also wondering about the videos verses the new crossfit classes that everyone seems to be taking?

Hi, I was im the same boat year ago before Cathe, I did slim6, slim serie, p90x,and insanity. Slim 6 help me to start and then I did p90x,help me too after a year did't work any more, so I get insanity I love it I get streng but no lose weigth, so I find Cathe Low Impact help me to lose 5 pounds in a month, other Cathe dvds total was slow but total I lost my baby weigth and 10 more I can see my ABS , my shoulders, I love my resoults, I love Bread and is a big problem for my diet, is very hard but very importante wath you eat.Xtrain is very good.Good luck

You got a nice variety of workouts. The ones that will work best are the ones that you will enjoy enough to stick with and not stop after a week. I would just go with the ones that you enjoy the most till you find that exercise has become a regular part of your lifestyle. There is no reason you can't mix up the workouts so you don't get bored.

Xtrain is a really awesome series & will definitely give you upper body definition. :D I really liked the 90 day undulating rotation and find that it helps me to follow the rotations that Cathe creates. I get in more workouts in a week because I'm trying to stay on schedule & she knows how to vary the workouts to get the best results!

Low Impact Series, STS, and the new workouts are also great! So are most of her older workouts. You really can't go wrong with her.

Almost any workout system can give results if you are consistent and make gains each time you workout. I think you have to be more realistic in what you consider "results". It may take up to 8 weeks to start seeing and feeling even minor changes in your body. Don't confuse this with achieving your ultimate goal in that time frame unless of course your goal is making positive strides in your health and fitness.

Find workouts you enjoy but also push yourself each time. For weight workouts, pick a weight that is challenging but nothing that will cause injury. Practice good form even at the expense of not performing all the reps. Each time you do a weight workout make a change, even it is doing 3 or 4 reps with a higher weight than last time. For cardio do a few more jumping jacks or whatever the case may be. Don't make fitness a stagnant process. Even small changes make a big difference in your results.

With regard to CrossFit, it is not for everyone, but it is another form of working out. It does incorporate more Olympic style lifting and more what some would define as "metabolic" exercise patterns. That is over simplifying things of course.

My favorite Cathe series have been both XTrain and her Low Impact Series.
