need max fat loss w/ muscle mass gain, suggest a DVD!

Am a 30-something, experienced exerciser...I started w/ The FIRM in high school, caught TaeBo fever when it first came out, and have belonged to various community fitness centers over the years and had excellent results w/ circuit training right before my wedding, but in the last 10 years I have put on **a lot** of weight and have not really stayed with any fitness program.

Recently joined the gym and have be working out regularly for over 2 months now. I discovered Cathe via FitTV and some other video fitness forums/review sites; after purchasing a used copy of the Wedding tape, I am hooked! I have PS, S/H, SS/PP, just received HSC, and KPC/L&G is on its way. I'm thinking about purchasing Low Max, Core Max, Muscle Max; also considering IMAX2/C&W (more for C&W). (I *love* DOMS; cardio, not so much. ;) )

I'm ready to step up my workout from cardio 4-5x/wk + total body strength training 2x/wk w/ 2 rest days/wk to........well, I'm thinking about strength training splits 3x/wk with cardio 4x/wk (unless I need to do more for the fat loss x( ?) and 1 rest day/wk. I prefer longer (45-60+) min workouts, (combining cardio and strength work usually takes me about 2hrs,) don't care for high impact stuff - I'm a big girl, and that's just too much pressure on my joints!

Currently my cardio is 50-60min on the treadmill; a respectable incline (8-9) and 3.0-3.2mph keeps me @ my target HR. (I'm toying with less incline, more speed, but I'm afraid all that friction will light my inner thighs on fire, :7 LOL!) Can anyone recommend a "must-have" DVD to supplement my cardio/existing DVDs? All that treadmill is starting to *yawn* bore me! ;-)

Thank you for any suggestions!

Welcome!I also discovered Cathe fairly recently (9 months?) and now own almost every DVD (missing some of the Body Blast Series)!
Since you are already getting KPC (great choice) and have impact issues, I would definitely recommend Low Max as your next puchase, it is intense without the jumping and really works your legs too! As you get stronger, you should definitely get Imax2/C&W. Imax 2 is a great interval workout to throw into your rotation -- the intervals are high impact but mercifully short. It will really blast away some major calories and fat!
As for the strength DVDs, you can't go wrong with the Gym Styles, they are set up as a three day split and have effective "Timesaver" premixes.

I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions here!

I am doing a hardcore rotation right now and I am feeling results after just two weeks. I would suggest purchasing:

1) MuscleMax
2) Kickmax
3) Lowmax
4) Imax 2 or 3

Keep in mind that with the Imax cardio's you can always modify if the plyo work is too intense for you. Don't shy away from these workouts just because there is jumping and hopping going on. These workouts can be modified and still be great cardio. And really, the plyo work is in the blasts, not the step combos.

MM is a must have in my opinion. I just finished this workout and it is just superb!

A weight workout that is set up in a circuit fashion with little rest between sets (working different body parts) will be a good fat burner, but it might not help you GAIN muscle (just retain while losing fat).

Or something like Body Max.

RE: need max fat loss w/ muscle mass gain, suggest a DV...

Thanks for all the great suggestions! Will be getting Low Max, Muscle Max, IMAX2/C&W, and HSCh (heard it's easily modified, and I'm hooked on the pre-mix feature)! :7

Oh, it's going to be so much fun planning a rotation! :9
