I want to play music while doing non-dvd workouts, but I don’t know what bpm I should select from.

If I am doing a freestyle workout what bpm range should I select from?

What about on a day like the 5am Fitness Fiesta from the Boot Camp Rotation? What bpm would I use then?

This may be a dumb question but how are you figuring bpm? Do you have a metronome or is this info somewhere else?

Me using a metronome..now that's funny. Not sure where my grade school music teacher is now, but I'm sure she'd say tone deaf and using a metronome don't mix. LOL

I am looking at buy cds from a fitness store on online that are geared towards the fitness industry. They have the bpm listed with the tracks.

Step and step-kickbox: 128 - 130 bpm

Floor kickbox: 130 - 140 bpm (be careful when you get over 135 bpm)

Hi/lo: 140 - 160 bpm

Jump rope: 150 - 155 bpm

Many power moves can be done at any of those bpm ranges; just remember that the faster the movement, usually the smaller range of motion especially from the hip and shoulder joint is entailed.

Thanks for the info everyone. I love the link Julie and with A-jocks bpm breakdown I've got a basket full of cds. My credit card company thanks you.
