Need help with pulled muscle please

I pulled my left bicep a week and a half ago. It was feeling better, but just trying to some back work and now it hurts again, so it obviously wasn't completely healed. It makes me want to cry to think of losing ground with my biceps, let alone my other upper body muscles. It seems that when I try to do back, chest, shoulders, anything, my bicep is incorporated in some way. Anyone has suggestions for work I can do that will isolate well enough that my bicep won't be incorporated? And, I've been purposely not working the other bicep, so they won't get uneven. Does that make sense, or should I be working on the healthy one? I could really use some advice; I am so bummed.

Okay, I feel like ask cathe today...lol. My son is sick so I have no life today ;)

My first inclination is to tell you just to take a number of days totally off from upper body training, or even lower body that incorporates hoisting barbells or what have you. I think most exercises will manipulate your bicep in some manner and cause twinges that could be risky. If you are not willing to part entirely, you can just very carefully try exercises and know to stop if you feel any discomfort. I think the more you push it, the more you will set yourself back.

I know the anxiety about not wanting to lose your hard work, but think of how much stronger you will be once you feel better.

Thanks for the input. I was just reading something about the mind/body connection and how stressing mentally about the injury can actually make the problem last longer. And, that a positive mental attitude helps.
