I need serious help!!! I'm 5'5, 25 yrs old and have gained 10 pounds ALREADY. I started out at 135 and am now at 145. I'm only 12 weeks pregnant, and cant seem to get a grasp on this. I work out pretty much 5 days a week either taking a spin or interval training class, because recently I lack the motivation on my own feeling tired or sluggish. I'm keeping a food journal taking in roughly 1800-2000 calories a day. I'm pretty active and on my feet all day but cant understand what is going on. Also my previouls FLAT butt is not becomming a LARGE BUTT!!! What gives? I'm a first timmer at this and know no one who has been pregnant except for the mother and mother in law, but that was so long ago I keep getting told "things have changed!" Any and all help would be very appreicated. . I'm desperate for any help on a rotation or eating habits to get this flab under control! THANK YOU

not sure how much this will help, but your body will change, and some women change more profoundly initally. i am currently 34 weeks pregnant with my first, and i too gained a lot the first trimester. 10lbs like you. my butt took on a new dimension, and i really couldn't change it, just what happened. my wieght gained slowed, and i have put on 21lbs total and feel great. the changes in my body look less apparent with a larger belly to balance things out, and i feel great being active. you will get flab and fat. no way around that, but you can still stay fit and active. it just won't look the same. but heyt, you also get a tenny tiny baby! and your body should bounce back later.

all i can say is to listen to your body and do what feels good, food wise and exercise wise. and know this next 9 months are all about someone else, right inside you.

I am with Morris on her recommendations. If you are eating fairly healthy and exercising regularly, your body is gaining what it needs. Some people gain more the first trimester than other people. I do recommend keeping up the weight work, even though things (like the butt) get bigger they can continue to be firm. Come join us on the moms to be check in.

I had the exact same scenario. Weighted 135 to start and had gained ten by 12 weeks. I gained on the high side the entire pregnancy despite working out 4-5 times a week, weights and cardio. All I can say is the baby is totally worth it! And I have lost all but two pounds as of 15 weeks post partum. So just know that the weight is temporary and you gain what you need. Keep exercising and doing what you can to stay healthy and the rest is out of your hands! And the energy and motivation get better now that the first trimester is over!

I gained 12 pounds the first ten weeks of pregnancy (twins), but now I am gaining about 1/2 pound every two weeks. Every body is different and maybe you needed extra weight right at the beginning. I sure did - I was an eating-maniac!! SO, don't panic yet!!!! Your body is smart and if you are eating well and moving a bit, you will be ok! And, congrats to you!!
