Hi, I still consider myself new to Cathe's workouts and am still trying to figure out what will work for me to get this extra 10 pounds off. I am eating clean, exercising well and can't seem to budge. I saw one person comment on one of the tapes being "endurance" versus "strength building". What am I trying to do if I want to burn calories in the most effective way. I have not been big on strength building and am trying to incorporate this into my rotations - I know it will help burn calories. I need to lose this fat on my body and gaining strength would also be good. I am up to 10 pound reps on many upper body - and have seen gains (starting at 5 pounds) in chest, biceps, shoulders. The tapes I have are: rythmic step , the wedding tape, circuit max and I am in the process of buying some new ones - including some strength tapes - BUT, I want to buy the right ones. So...my question is for a beginner to weight training, I assume it is better to build strength first, correct? Can all of Cathe's tapes do this and/or which ones will do this best. Also, should one continue using the same tape until they stop seeing results? Thanks so much. I learn so much from y'all. Sandy

I am not sure if I can help you with endurance vs. strength building and which helps you lose weight faster but I can relate to being stuck at a particular weight in spite of a clean diet and exercising well. I actually decided to do the same thing as you - include more strength training into my rotation and I bought the PS series. It was the first time I actually split strength training and cardio rather than doing them together in an endurance type workout. That did the trick for me and I started losing some weight again. I started PS with only being able to handle 8lbs for arms but as everyone knows Cathe is a fantastic instructor - she pays so much attention to form and is so non-intimidating that most beginners feel comfortable with her (I know I did!) I would also recommend buying Interval Max if you don't already have that. It really does shock your metabolism. Hope I helped and best of luck with losing those 10lbs.

For a beginner, Cathe's muscular "endurance" tapes will also yield some strength gains. (I've heard her say that.) I think these tapes would be CTX, Bodymax, Circuit Max, and Power Hour (is that the name of her latest total body???).

About using the same tape, I quote Dave Draper: "Early trainees are often impulsive and impatient. They change routines, too soon, too often, before either good habits or good muscle have a chance to develop from consistent and thoughtful overload. Beware that you don't succumb to premature training hanges due to to improper assessment, or no assessment at at all. Hang in there."
