Need help getting in shape

I just turned 50 and I want to really get in shape, but I am not sure what is the best way. I have been working out for a long time but not consistently. I am very confused on the different training methods. Should I do the Gym Styles and work each body part once a week (is this enought to get muscle definintion), should I do the Pyramids and do each body part twice a week, should I do full body workouts 2 or 3 times a week, or should I do the CTX series? I only need to lose about 5 lbs. but I really would like to see some muscle definition and tone up all over. I have almost all of your workouts, but how to use them to reach my goals is confusing. I know I need to watch my diet and I am working on that part. Also, is doing cardio 3 times a week enough? Any help or suggestions you can give me is greatly appreciated.
