Need Bodymax advice

Cathlete
Hi...

I would like to try Bodymax this weekend for the first time, and I have a question on the weight of the barbell. I have been doing the PS series for a while now with a 36 lb barbell. In previewing the Bodymax tape, it looks like the reps are fast and furious. Do you guys lighten up the barbell when you do Bodymax? What do you suggest I do? Any other suggestions about anything I should watch out for in this tape will be appreciated! I can't wait to try it!

Thanks!

Veronica

I think that if you are apprehensive you should do the workout the first time with a lighter barbell and if it isn't enough you can increase it the next time. It is always better to be safe than sorry. On many tapes that the reps are faster I do use a little lighter weight than I would for the PS series. I know on the CTX series Cathe uses lighter weights.

Personally, I lighten up, which for me is going from 65 lbs. for PS Legs to 45 lbs. for Bodymax, Powermax, Leaner Legs, Circuit Max and Powermax BECAUSE the reps are higher and faster.

Thanks for your answers!

Honeybunch: 65lbs? I can't even imagine that! Good for you! (I thought I was doing great with 35 lbs. Oh well.) I noticed in your profile that you are a CPP...so am I! I have to take the CPP exam in April because I didn't get enough stinkin' credits! I'd better pass...I'd sure hate to have to white out the CPP after my name on my business cards! :-(

How do they check on those credits? Do you have to submit your list? I'm going to have a tough time unless I go to some seminars.

That is a stinker of a test!:-(

When I work out on the Leg machines at the Y (Cybex), most men who get on the machines right after me have to LOWER the weight!! I love it!

65lbs,????? How on earth do you manage to lift that much safely??? On my squats i still have to use 45lbs as i cannot safely lift any more without help, although my legs could use more weight, I simply cannot press any heavier up an over my neck, you are a true amazon, well done!!!!!

65lbs, how on earth do you get that much weight "up and over"??? I could sure be doing with your secret, I need to heavy up on my legs, but I can only manage to lift 45lbs, do you have some secret device that helps you lift that much weight over your head?????

I have good upper body strength. I couldn't do it if I was not able to lift heavy for shoulders and such. Sometimes I do dumbbell military presses with 27-1/2 lb. dumbbells.

I did it!

Today I did Bodymax for the first time. Made it all the way thru, and had such a great time! (Well, except for the pushup sequence!)

Can you believe how great Cathe looks in that tape? I think that's the most cut I've seen her. Her arms are awesome!

Thanks for the advice on lightening up on the weights. I used a 25 lb barbell which was fine except for the static lunges...only did 16 per leg before my legs fell off.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Yeaaaah Veronica!!

Isn't that the best tape? I love BodyMax. I just did it yesterday and I also noticed how fabulous Cathe looked in it. (Very lean & cut) I'm with you on those push-ups.:-tired They get me everytime. Have a great weekend yourself and go "put your legs back on"!!! Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

RE: Yeaaaah Veronica!!

Okay you two! You're getting me all excited about BodyMax! I can't wait to receive my copy and get to working out!:) :)

I bet you'll love it!

Talk about an endorphin high! That tape is my new favorite. I was beat after doing it, and had a rest day the next day, but it was a good kind of tired, know what I mean?

Let us know what you think of it!
