I just finished step blast and during the 2nd combo I felt a lot of pain in my calf. I stubbornly finished the workout (probably shouldn't have) but anyway, do you think it just a bit of a strain and if so what do i do for it. It's quite tender to walk with it.
Thanks sherry

I say sit it out for a few hours, as much as possible and put a heating pad on it. Don't do anything that feels uncomfortable, including walking. If it still hurts like hell in the a.m., I'd get in to see your doctor. If it is progressively feeling better, keep resting it until you feel comfortable resuming typical activities.

Sherry is it possible that your heels were coming off of the board during the workout, that would put a lot of strain on your calf muscles and achilles tendon. I am a massage therapist and have worked quite a bit with sports injuries. Because your injury is fresh or 'acute' I would recommend putting cold on the area an ice pack or a cold cloth. If you use a cold cloth leave it on long enough to let your own body heat warm it. Fresh injuries congest the muscles with the inflammatory response and it is helpful to shunt this away to reduce swelling. If you put heat on it within the first 48 hours you further congest the area which isn't productive for healing. If you use an ice pack put a cloth between the pack and your skin and leave it on for about 15 minutes. After you remove it take the muscle into it's pain free range of motion. Slowly point your toe to your nose then away from the body slowly. In a couple of days you can start to put heat on it to keep fresh blood in the area as it heals. HTH.

Do you stretch them properly? I have major foot issues and keeping the calf supple and stretched helps so much. NEVER BE STUBBORN, young lady, unless you know it's okay! You may burn calories but they could be the last you burn until you heal completely if you aren't careful. Bodies are wise and pain has a message for you. We know the pleasurable pain of sore muscles and we don't want the other kind! How does it feel now?
