Need Advice.......Scared to succeed.

Hello All, need some advice from all you. I need to loose about 40lbs and get fitter. When I do see improvements in the tape measure and looking in the mirror, my body image is that I look sick cuz I am use to looking overweight so I start to eat unhealthy again and the weight comes back on. The rollercoaster affect.
I really want to overcome this and succeed. How can I increase my body image when the inches are comming off?

Thank you
Krista

I have alot of books on fitness and alot of workout dvd. cycle, treadmill, bowflex. Have all the stuff. I get apprehensive when I am succeeding at the weight loss the first week of trying to get fit.

Wildflower, . . . you need to try to stop obsessing over what you see in the mirror and on the scale. Set some fitness goals. It is not about the number on the scale but how being healthy makes you feel. Eating right and working out is the natural anti depressant. Try to do it for fun. Find things that make you active that you enjoy, riding a bike, hiking, group classes. You CAN do this but what I've come to appreciate is that it does not happen overnight and the changes need to be slow for you to be successful and for them to be permenant. Any change is hard. Changing your lifestyle to be a healthy and active one, . . . is no different. Gosh esp the eating part. Hang in there.

For me, it was getting fit enough to keep up with the physical activities my DH and I wanted to do together! We wanted to climb Mt. Washington and tried one year, but I just couldn't keep up because I couldn't breathe and my legs gave out (it was a bit steep). Now, I know I could do it! When riding bikes together I can make it up the hills without having to get off the bike and walk up! I'm still huffing and puffing, but the recovery at the top is much faster and my legs are stronger!

It feels great!

Set an activity goal that you've always wanted to try and use that as your measuring stick!
