Neck issues and running- expertise requested

Folks, I have hurt my neck again (I have a history of neck injuries). I don't think it's serious this time, and I am working on regaining my range of motion through gentle stretching. My question is, do you think I should have any issues with continuing my running program?

I also do kettlebells and STS (STS is how I hurt it to begin with). I would assume both of those are mostly out until the pain stops, but if anyone has any thoughts on neck pain and continuing with KBs and/or strength training, that would be great.

Thank you!

Hey Mornigstar

Not an expert but...

I actually hurt my neck a couple weeks ago doing STS too. I found that running actually helped. Once I had run I could get a better stretch with more range of motion. Not very nice though!
Good luck with it. I ended up taking Advil and using a heating pad at times. I am still not sure what it was exactly that got me in STS but it was after the second Back and Triceps in meso 1. When I went to a PT a while ago for a similar problem... he suggested tilting my head to the side and slightly down , then nodding. It looks really weird and you can feel a pull but it really helped over time.
Good luck
Heather

Thanks, Heather!

I'm not sure exactly which exercise got me either, but it was in Meso 1, Week 1, my second time around the STS track. Last night I did 1/2 of disk 1, 1/2 of disk 2 and 1/2 of disk 3, and somewhere in there something went wrong.

I am trying some Voltaren Emulgel (which makes me feel like I am taking some ancient Vulcan remedy) and some Robax Platinum, with stretching. I'm going to try running tomorrow morning and see how it goes.
