Natural arthritis relief?

Hi gals,

So, this is a follow-up to my Oops...in trouble with my doc post from yesterday. What kinds of things can you recommend for relief of knee and hip pain? It seems like so many of the web-hits are just ads that want to sell you stuff. I should get the x-ray results early next week to see how far-gone my knee and hip are. My second round of cortisone was yesterday in diferent spots but now I wait three months.

I'm giong to try a product called Elations which has 1500mgs each of Glucosamine and Chondroitin - the dosage my doctor recommended.

What other types of things can you recommend? I found a PT gal who I like. She is starting with a new and gentle streching routine for now until the x-rays come back and she can see what we are working with.

Since I'm not allowed to do lower body this week I have decided to concentrate on core and upper body. Surely he didn't mean a full seven days of no lower body! :p

Thanks!
Pam

Yes they do mean no lower body for seven days.

I have found that by strengthening the muscles around the knee, I no longer have pain. I also ice the knee before it starts to hurt.

Avoiding eating plants in the nightshade family (tomatoes, peppers, potatoes and eggplant, as well as tobacco) is said to reduce symptoms of arthritis.

MSM can help with joint pain (it's also found in some glucosamin/chondroitin products).

Hyaluronic acid helps with tissue hydration. Baxyl http://www.baxyl.com/
is one product that contains it (and has laboratory and clinical studies to back up its effectiveness).

HTH!
