I'm reading this as I hold my head up, wishing I could take a ten minute nap. I try to do so much in a day, that the only way I can make more time, is to skimp on my sleep. If I get more than five hours a night I'm lucky (with no interuptions).
How much sleep to you get?

This reminds me of something that bugs me just a tiny bit. Have you ever seen those huge light-up signs that go across the highways to post information? Like, "Route 90 West congested past exit 53. Expect delays." Well, we have a couple of those on our highway and they never have anything important to say. This morning they were flashing something about Sleep Awareness Week.

Our county can't even afford to keep our public parks open, they can't afford to pay the vendors who clean the bathrooms in one of our county buildings, so the workers have to go elsewhere when the need arises, and they're eliminating emergency personnel all over the place. But they can afford to put up these dumb signs that tell us it's Sleep Awareness Week and "Buckle Up New York"? In the 2 years that they've had them, I can count on one hand the number of times they've told me something useful. Of course, they don't tell you anything useful until it's too late to take a different route home!

That said, Susan, I get about 7 hours a night.:)

Ah, but Donna, the sleep deprived are as dangerous as drunks and they are everywhere, including on the roads when we take our children out. I became afraid to drive and desperate to sleep and it was depressing and horrible. Besides there's plenty of money to keep all the things you miss going. But I won't get started on government mismanagment. I might put someone to sleep. Hey! ;)

Awareness Weeks raises consciousness and that's good!

Oh thanks for posting this link Susan--I've been meaning to try to find something like it. Looking for insomnia help. :-(

I can usually get about 7 during the week, a bit more on weekends. My big problem is quality of sleep. I wake up more tired than when I went to bed, because all night my sleep is filled with the strangest, most convoluted, violent, twisted dreams. I used to tell people about my dreams. I don't anymore, because I hate the looks I get and the fact that they start backing slowly away from me. And those weren't even the BAD ones!

How ironic this should come after a restless night for me!! Lately I have been sleeping like a rock, usually getting anywhere from 6-7 hours a night. Last night I just think I had too much on my mind. Plus, I had to stay up and watch the new show "Grey's Anatomy"!!

Bobbi - if you could find the money that our government can't seem to, I wish you'd more to Erie County. I'd elect you!

Donna, my family lives in Lancaster. So I know how businesses are closing in Erie county (even DMV). It's really a shame. I'll be going out there this weekend.
I wasn’t trying to make this post like a billboard, and I'm not one to "recognize" weeks. But for me, I don’t get enough sleep and I was mainly interested in knowing how much everyone else sleeps.

I usually need, and get, 8 hours, but if I'm working out intensely (like my Hardcore rotation), I either try to get 9 hours or a nap.

Maximus, I had insomnia about four years ago. I did NOT sleep. I'd go to bed at 5:30am and get up around 7am. That lasted about 2 1/2 years! I went to the doctor, who gave me Ambien. Just like the ad says...works like a dream. It took me a little longer than the 7 to 10 days recommended, but it worked wonders.

My problem isn't getting to sleep, it's staying asleep. I go to bed 10-11:00 pm, then I wake up betw. 3-4:00 am & can't get back to sleep. It is such a miserable feeling! It's been going on for about 6 months & I'm starting to adjust to 4-5 hours a night, but I feel so much better after 8 hours.
