My very unique comfort meal

So, let me preface this by sayiing that last evening/into the night the thunderstorms were raging!! So much so that despite the fact that our power lines are underground - around 10:30pm the power went out for the first time since we moved here. That meant of course that not only did the AC quit during the heavy monsoonal storm, but the flippin' hard-wired smoke-detector system beeped until about 1am.

I gave my son the noise-cancelling Bose headset so he could sleep.... I stuffed a tissue in my ear- not even CLOSE to the Bose headset.

I ALWAYS sooth my sleep deprived brain, body, soul with the same dish... it's like all my systems CRAVE it!! Plus, preparing the dish is such an act of love and comfort to me!! I'm like the Mama on My Big Fat Greek Wedding -except I'm not Big or Fat.... I just MUST cook. You walk into my home and you WILL eat and drink something!! :p:eek::D Just TRY leaving without par-taking! :D

So, having said all that, despite monsoonal down-pours or blizzards or whatever Mama Nature brings on, I find that my go-to comfort dish is my infamous Indian Curry! It's calming, warm, cozy and oooooh soooo soothing. :D:cool:

I first sautee raw pine-nuts in Sesame Oil, then add Pataks HOT paste along with Greek Yogurt. Toast up a Naan and some Cous-Cous with sesame oil. I add frozen peas and carrots to the mixture and Voila! A super tasty comfort dish!! :D:D:D

It's so odd that it's what gives me the warm-fuzzies and relaxes me ohhh so prfectly. Most of my friends turn to the usual choices like mac n' cheese, pasta, etc... Nope. I gotta calm my body/mind/soul with this sooo fantastic dish.

What foods do you turn to when you need a tummy-hug???

Okee dokee.... gonna go chillax with my son!

Sleepy sleep nearly time for bed!

I love curry! That sounds fast and yummy.

Unfortunately for me, my comfort foods are mostly sweet and fatty, like cookies. :)

I would love to be able to cook a curry. Everyone says they are so easy, but they scare me. So to start, what is a Naan?

Mmmmmm! I love curry! I love Naan! I love couscous!:) I'm actually planning on treating myself to curry & roti for dinner tonight. I'm just trying to decide between the channa curry or chicken. Decisions, decisions!

For me, comfort food is usually spaghetti & meatballs. Yum!

Shayne: Naan is a flat bread. You can actually use it to sccop up the curry instead of using utensils to eat it. If you like bread, you will like Naan.
