My stupid jeans don't fit anymore!!!!!!!

After the last few years of trying to build myself a butt, apparently all I've accomplished is to build myself some thighs. When I went to put my jeans on for Tgiving they were SO tight around my upper thighs & the sides of my rear, but the upper butt & waist were still loose.

So now what the heck am I supposed to do? Go a size up & get them tailored? I hate tailored jeans! It's so obvious when some seams are all perfect but the rest are all frayed.

And what am I supposed to do w/the 20+ pairs of jeans I have in my closet?

I guess my other option is to lighten up on the leg workout. But I think that would be just plain frustrating.

This is just ridiculous & bizarre. x(

Jeans are some of the most stupid things EVER!;-) What is your build? And are you eating nice and cleanly or do you cheat? How about kickboxing??

Have you tried straight leg jeans? I can't wear jeans that taper to the knee and then flare out for the same reason, but straight leg jeans tend to be wider through the hips and thighs and those work fine for me.

A trick a friend told me about but it sounds like a pain, is to wash your jeans and then when they are damp, wear them around for a bit to see if you can stretch/mold them to fit you....

I don't know if this works though because I haven't tried it. but it always sounded interesting to me.

I have switched styles of jeans over time as my body has changed-- so maybe you can find out if your new shape would better suit a different cut of jeans and then go from there.

Don't worry about all the jeans that don't fit anymore. It's a great excuse to just go shopping and find something that looks great on you now!

OMG - you have more than 20 pairs of jeans? Really?

20 pairs of jeans????? Seriously. WOW.

The issue you are talking about I have in the summer after biking for many miles. Big in the waist, tight in the thighs and calves.
Even out your workouts between upper and lower body with cardio.

Of course, doesn't everybody? :p

Seriously, this has nothing to do w/gaining fat. It's putting on muscle in the wrong places. I need to modify my leg workout to see if I can get the roundness in my butt that I want without building my thighs.

And my lifting is totally in proportion--in fact a couple trainers have told me my butt is out of proportion to my upper body.

I'm having a cunundrum.

do they mean it's too big? I didn't think that was possible in this day and age. You know......Jlo and Beyonce" :)

Laura,
Have you tried switching all your weight training to endurance for a while? Maybe that will help.

Laura, I have the exact same problem, and it happens quickly. If I do a few weeks of Slow and Heavy my thighs get thick and HUGE. I've found that doing alot of non-weighted leg work helps.

Laura,

I am having the same exact problem. They make jeans for women with stick legs and then the waist area is bigger. If anyone knows of a place where you can buy fit women's jeans, let me know.

Laura,

Jeans were not made for women! Not for *any* of us, I am convinced ;)

You have an awesome physique, if you want my vote. I can only tell you that from my experience (a former fat, yet still amazingly flat butt girl here), leg presses were the key to shpaing my rear, along w/lunges and squats. I use mostly Cathe workouts, plus my gym classes, so I have never used very heavy weights for this. But no joke, time off from these showed me that these were the exact moves that did the shaping. Also, have you ever done floor and standing leg work with ankle weights? That might give you that extra burn that you need.

I know that you are the master, (I usually write you for the advice!) but these are just some thoughts!

Laura,

I run into this problem as well! I realized when I went on vacation this summer and couldn't do any heavy leg work that my upper thighs shrunk! I don't know if it was water loss, but my legs leaned out and looked better than they had in ages. After a week off, I went back to one heavier leg day and one P90X back/leg day which is a lot of non-weighted work.

This past month, I have been frustrated with the same thigh problem. I just had to take 5 days off of weights due to the holiday and the same thing happened. My jeans fit well now and legs look good. And believe me, I didn't eat all that well last week. Ugh.

Maybe when the legs need a break, they begin to retain water? Just a thought!

I have heard that the brand Joes Jeans " honey " Style is suppose to be a good fit for a lot of women.Just some food for thought.I know my Joes Jeans 'Tyler " style are my faves.Tru Religion and Rock and Republic are suppose to great for giving the rear an uplifted look and for extending the leg because of the way the leg seams are cut. They are expensive ,but jeans are a wardrobe staple ,so it is a good area to invest money into. Maybe it is just some water gain.If not I think there is nothing like good ol' fashion floor work for the butt and running(just a short ,moderate run) and kickboxing.anothe idea is ballet barre work for the rear .Thigh rotation does wonders for shaping the rear and you can even get into beg ballet classes rather inexpensively(is that a word?) @ your local community colleges.Beg ballet is all about technique ,so you can definitely rearrange your body shape.Hope this helps ;-)

I had the opposite problem--tight in the waist and big in the butt! I finally sold all my old jeans on ebay (made up to $30.00 per pair for designer styles) and replaced them with the kind with a bit of stretch to them--Silver brand jeans are a favorite. The stretch is so nice--hugs my curves and lets me breathe at the same time.;-)

Charlotte,

Please tell me where to find these types of jeans, they sound like they would fit me perfectly. Seriously, I'm pretty straight all the way down with not much curve so jeans that are bigger at the waist are what I'm always looking for.
