My son the doctor

Janie, your son sounds wonderful and I will bet you any amount of money that as soon as his schedule lightens up, he will be immediately snatched up by a crafty young nurse. :)

Seriously, I like the idea of you going to him once a month, maybe; can you do things for him like clean his house or do his laundry/groceries? help him find a new place to move to if that's the issue? get the whole family involved in sending him cards or letters?

He does sound like he is really burnt out, and who wouldn't be? But it will be important for him to keep his eye on the prize, so to speak, as his work will be very rewarding once he is actually in practice somewhere. I'm sure ER work is always stressful, but I'm sure it's not so bad when you're in a location that works for you.

You're a great mom to care so much. I do hope you find some ways to encourage him through the last lap. Maybe plan a big, relaxing vacation for him when his internship is scheduled to be complete? Then he has something tangible to look forward to as a reward.

Hope you all hang in there!
Marie

Janie,

Your son and his life sound inspiring - such selfless accomplishments at a young age. I certainly hope he is able to find some time for himself. I know being the wonderful mom that you are, you will continue to help him with this. Remind him that if he doesn't make some "down time" for himself, there will be nothing left of him to give to others. And he is obviously one who wants to continue to help others in many ways.

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} to you and yours.:)
