My son gets mad when......

 You know what makes me feel good, is every time I workout my son goes around and pulls the blinds he is 17. I workout when it is still daylight, but he insists that I close the shades so no one can see me. I guess I should take this as a compliment that he thinks people would be interested in watching a 38 year old workout!:D

I work out during the day as well and just found out the a neighbor behind me sees me working out everyday. She says she doesn't sctually watch, but did have her husband take out the telescope to see what I was doing. Kind of creepy, huh? I now close the blinds to our deck.

;-) That is creepy. Why would they even care what you are doing? Telescope, wow! You know what is funny, back in my 20's when I used to exercise, my husband came home from work and shined his headlights on someone standing outside my window watching me. This was at nighttime and we had shear like curtains, so I guess you could see in. But the thing now is when I exercise during the daylight if someone were watching me I would be able to see them. I don't think the elderly lady next door is anything to worry about. I do close the blinds if it is dark and I have the lights on in the house.

Ha, Ha, HA!! Now why don't you think an elderly lady would be interested?
I don't work out at night due to lack of blinds in the front. And once when we first moved in I decided to do Power Max and looked at the house across the street to see quite the audience, all men of course. So, I just don't go there anymore. We are now friends with the people across the street, I have never brought up that incident to them however.

Reminds me of the across-the-street neighbors on "Bewitched"!

I know I'm going to sound like a nutcase here, but I wouldn't be bothered by the "lookers". I guess that comes from me teaching and having to get used to people watching me and the large crowds for the aerobic performances.

Then again I workout in the basement and don't have to deal with any of that BUT I do have a problem with guests/family coming into the basement to watch me workout. Now that freaks ME out! Ticks me off when they try to carry on a conversation when I'm holding onto a loaded barbell or trying to do a Cathe step workout.

We live in a wooded area and if I were working out upstairs, I don't think any one would notice any way!

I know exactly what you mean! I workout in my own 'workout room', but sometimes when people stop over and I'm working out, they will come in to say hello, which is fine...but then they want to stand there and watch! I finally had to tell my husband unless it is my mom or my sister don't let them come in to say hello.:p

Of course I found one quick way to get rid of some of them. I'll tell them this is not a show. Either grab a spot and join me or close the door on the way out...I haven't had any takers yet.:9

I, too, have problems with friends and family coming in to "watch" me. It drives me crazy! I don't care if they walk through and look a little, but they think I should be able to carry on full, coherent conversations while working out. And I don't like being on display. The part that bothers me the most, though, is that most people feel they have every right to criticize what you're doing - form, technique, weights, even the video. If they were experts, I'd pay attention; most people I know can't even walk for 20 minutes. I, too, use the "You're only allowed to stay if you join me" trick. It really works... It's amazing how many people are terrified of exercise :)
