Okay, I am an auntie!!! I love him so much, and my sister is amazing!
Here's what went down:
Her water broke at 5 a.m., she had been having contractions since late the evening before. They weren't bad so she slept the best she could until she felt a wet trickle that "wasn't from my urethra" (she is the most technical person that I know!) Her contractions were very painful around 7 or 8 am. She went into the doctor and she pressed on Mel's stomach and *GUSH*. Yes, her water definately broke.
She got settled into her room, and at about 5:30, after 9-10 hours of contractions that last 1 1/2 minutes with only 1-2 minute breaks in between, she was dialated to 1 1/2 centimeters. She was 1 cent at her appoinment on Mon. She was in so much pain and she was crying, oh, I hated it! I have never felt so helpless in my life, I wish I could have just made it all go away, but she unfortunately had a long way to go! They put her on a p-drip and gave her nubaine, and within 5 hours she finally got to 4 centimeters! They were going to let her have an epidural now.
Now, I am a very natural person. I am against epidurals, actually drugs of any kind, because of the risk they impose on mother and the side effects of it. NEVER IN MY LIFE DID I WANT ANYTHING MORE THAN I WANTED HER TO BE OUT OF PAIN AND HOOKED UP TO A DRIP! Even though I went through it, I still hate seeing my best friend in pain and felt there was no other choice than to get it! I was so stressed for her, I even smoked a cigarette. I haven't had a single drag in SEVEN YEARS. I was stressed.
Wow, this is long! Sorry, guys! I know that you really want me to get the good stuff (FINALLY) so I will.
He was born 6-18 at 8:09 a.m. (too many hours of labor and 27 hours after her water started leaking) weighing 6.15#, measuring 21" and he is beautiful! He looks just like his daddy. He didn't cry at all when I saw him. He is a great nurser. He is PERFECT! She was absolutely wonderful, too! She didn't tear or have an episiotomy and she is amazing and strong and I am so proud of her! She is going to be such a good mommy!
Thank you for your prayers! God listened to you!
