Hello, my fellow Cathe-ites - just wanted to brag a moment about my brother, one of the many thousand New Orleans evacuees:
My brother, David Lee Simmons, was a cultural journalism editor and film critic for the now defunct "Gambit Weekly" in New Orleans, and this week he was interviewed by a New York program called "On The Media" aired by public radio stations. The subject of the interview is New Orleans's depiction by the movies of the 20th century. I spoke to one of the producers of the installment this afternoon and she raved about my brother; in my traditional neutral, unbiased manner I could help but agree.
If you're interested, you can log onto the On The Media website (www.onthemedia.org), scroll down to "The Moviegoer" section, and play the interview on your computer. I'll be waiting for the broadcast here in the Twin Cities Minnesota area this coming Sunday.
