My nephew has RSV

Last night I got call from sister she was upset, my nephew who is 5 months old had caught a cold. Last night he had trouble breathing so they went to the ER. He was diagnosed with RSV and had to go to Albany Medical Center in the ambulance on oxygen. Our local hospitals could not help him.

I am sad and scared. Please put him on your prayer list. I'm sure he will be okay but I'm nervous none the less.

Thank you,
Jenn

I just said a prayer for your nephew. I love my nephews dearly so I can only begin to imagine.

I'm very sorry Jenn.
I'll say a prayer for your nephew.
Please give us updates when possible. ((hugs))

I will sooo keep you all in my prayers.

My grandson had this at about the same age. It was very scary, but he responded very well to treatment....he didn't even have to be hospitalized.

I am so sorry for your nephew...and his poor mom and dad...and you too...hugs! Worrying about dear babies is one of the hardest things in life, imho.

eta: that's the same gson in my avatar...takin' a bath

My 2 year old just had RSV 3 weeks ago. He was in the hospital for 5 days. I will say a prayer - it is scary, but the good news is that the medical profession is very good at handling RSV. Hang in there - it is a scary virus.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus. It causes cold-like symptoms in adults and a very severe respiratory infection in infants. The disease is seasonal, peaking right about now.

My grandson had this over Valentine's Day two years ago. He was life flighted to the nearest medical center with a PICU. (We beat the helicopter in our car-can you say "speeding?") It was scary.

Jenn, try not to worry. Once they have a diagnosis and can treat him, he should be OK. Prayers being said....

(((HUGS))) He will be in my thoughts & prayers.

One of my closest friends is going through the same thing with her newborn. He just came home from the hospital a couple days ago but is still on oxygen. Even though they're completely confident he'll be fine-- it's still scary! :(:(:( Best wishes to you and your family.

Jenn my DD had this too. She was a premie (weighing only 2 lbs. 15 oz. at birth) She had no problems and recovered just fine. This happened 18 years ago:) (((HUGS))) to your nephew, keep us posted. Kay

Jenn--I am lifting your nephew in prayer to my Heavenly Father--healing for the little one, peace for all of you, and wisdom for the docs and others caring for him. (((hugs))) Please keep us posted!

Thank you all for your prayers.

When I left the hospital tonight he was looking a lot better. They turned the oxygen off and if he does ok tonight without it he may be discharged tomorrow.

I know he is good hands where he is at.
