My Lazy SO

Ok, so I finally got a chin up bar. YAY! Except there are no doorways in my workout space to install it. (I workout in the basement)....hmmmm...what to do...

First of all, my SO is irritated that I spent money on yet ANOTHER piece of workout equipment. Of course it doesn't matter that I shopped around forever to find the cheapest one--at 40 bucks! How good is that?!

So I'm desperately trying to figure out where to mount this chin up bar. He won't help me. Wants nothing to do with it. He's so freakin' lazy. He can't be bothered. As far as he's concerned I purchased the chin up bar for MY workouts and I need to deal with figuring this out. Ugh. Whatever.

Anyhoo, long story short...does anyone have any ideas how/where I can install this chin up bar? It's pretty much exactly the same as the one from BeachBody. I'm not very handy (and neither is my SO so the less screws and nails I have to use, the better.) Please help. Before I decide to use my SO as my new punching bag...
(ok, I'm not really that violent...I swear. ...)

Do you have any friends or neighbors that might be a bit more handy? Maybe you can see if one of them could help you install it. I can follow directions pretty easily but that doesn't mean I can always get the needed results so that's when I enlist the aid of someone else. Perhaps you can just invite a friend over for laughs and moral support as you install it yourself?

HAHA! Unfortunately for me (well in this case it's unfortunately, but in most cases it's a good thing!), my father LOVES my SO. I actually just called my Dad to ask him if he'd come over and install it because my boyfriend won't and he said exactly what my SO said--"it's your deal, figure it out." (well, he said it jokingly.)

Sheesh! MEN!!!

Hi Allison,

I have the bar from beachbody and you dont have to install it in a doorway. You do have to put the thing toghether which was kinda hard. I figured out how it all went but getting the screws in was difficult.
It just loops over the doorway and the handles lock it in the doorframe.
Mine would not fit in my workout room either so I put it in my laundry room doorway and then when I am done working out I store it in the closet.

hope that was some help only because I thought it had to be installed to. there is a bracket and a bunch of screws that I just did not use.

How about going to a place like Home Depot that's supposed to help you with stuff and ask for help. Maybe they have some sort of basic workshop. There are also books out there with titles like "You Don't Need a Man to Fix It" Believe me, it ain't that hard. This will be an opportunity for you to learn how to do things for yourself so you won't have to depend on him or your dad.
