Just to enable all of you wonderful period film fans such as myself... here are the latest movies I've seen. Both have Hugh Bonneville in them. In one he plays the older version of himself and Matthew McFadden (YUMMY) plays the older character.
Any Human Heart (here's the Netflix summary)
Riding the waves of the 20th century to two continents, Logan Mountstuart tries his hand at writing, the art trade and espionage, brushing shoulders along the way with a stunning assortment of iconic personalities. Jim Broadbent, Matthew Macfadyen and Sam Claflin pool their acting talents to portray one multifaceted man through three different seasons of his life in this sweeping British drama based on William Boyd's best-selling novel.
The Cazeletes (Hugh B. is very young in this film).
Four adult siblings -- brothers Rupert (Paul Rhys), Hugh (Hugh Bonneville) and Edward (Stephen Dillane) and their sister Rachel (Catherine Russell) -- return to their parents' lavish country estate on the eve of World War II in this miniseries about the wealthy Cazalet family. The extended family copes with conflict and heartache, fears and hopes, secrets and lies, and even terminal illness and pregnancies as their country prepares for war.
The era is a bit "later" as far as period films go-- later than my usual personal favs, but they are both interesting. I definitely like Any Human Heart better.
Just thought I'd put those two out there for you. Love to hear your reviews if you have time to see them. Sorry I don't have time to write more of a review on them.
