Cathlete
Cathe - I will be forever grateful for your exercise routines, and the day my boss loaned me a couple of your older tapes. Who would have thought that in less than a year, I could strengthen a knee that's been plaguing me for - oh gosh, at least four years!
I imagine it's "runner's knee" or something similar, caused by too much running on gravel roads with cheap shoes (in my earlier days). Anyhow, about four years ago, I decided I'd better quit running and switch to something else, or end up with no knee.
So I switched to step and was pretty satisfied, though I missed the intensity of running. AND - every time I tried to push a little harder, either with cardio or additional weights, the knee acted up again.
Then I found your workouts and loved the cardio stuff. Just this spring, I decided to try your weight workouts. I was scared of all the squats and lunges, fearing for the stupid knee. At first they did irritate it, but thanks to all the help from everyone on these forums, I learned to really pay attention to form, and that helped tremendously.
I have been working up gradually to the walking lunges, because they were the most bothersome. Yesterday was my first time to do 200, and I have absolutely NO problems, NONE, with the knee!
I'm sorry for such a long and windy post, but I just wanted to tell you thanks for the excellent workouts, and how they have succeeded in strengthening my knee. In fact, I plan to try and resume running this fall, and am really excited about it!
Thanks again. I and lots of others really appreciate your dedication to giving us all these great, advanced workouts!
